  1. The track you're looking for was released as a single as the "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It Triple Play." You can find it on iTunes by searching "Will Smith Remix." Hope that helps!
  2. Dunno if anyone else heard this radio commerical, it was kinda cool. Dr. Pepper Cans 'Mash Up' Ads Featuring Will Smith, Big Gipp By Nolan Strong Date: 3/29/2006 8:45 am A $5 million dollar ad promoting Dr. Pepper featuring the music of Will Smith, Kiss, EMP and Cyndi Lauper "mashed" together has been canned by the soft drink's owner, Cadbury Schweppes. Three different commercials were produced, one which briefly includes rapper Big Gipp and one that incorporates Smith's hit single "Miami." Most of the $5 million being spent on acquiring the rights to the music in the commercials. A spokesperson for Cadbury said the advertisements were shelved because of a change in marketing strategies. San Francisco based company Y&R has been hired to develop new spots for Dr. Pepper before Memorial Day (May 29). Cadbury Schweppes acquired Dr. Pepper in 1995 and the company has worked with Run-DMC and Jam Master Jay, the Black Eyed Peas and other rap groups to help promote the soft drink. http://www.allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=5505
  3. I think it's a reference to how much the Pon De Replay Beat sounds like the Switch beat. For the longest time whenever Rihanna's song would come on the radio, before she'd start singing I always thought it was Switch.
  4. Really great podcast this week, I think the best so far. Keep up the good work :2thumbs:
  5. Cleared it up for me. Thanks! :2thumbs:
  6. This topic is kind of more JJFP related than just Big Will related but here goes: what's up with the song you saw my blinker? I could never figure out if it was based on a true story or not. I figured for Will to call someone a b**ch he'd have to be pretty mad. Does anyone know the story behind this song?
  7. hahaha, yeah at least that much is true. Thanks :lolsign:
  8. Does anybody know the combined worldwide sales total for lost and found?
  9. Okay so Will was snubbed by the MTV VMAs, but what could save Lost and Found and give it the sales boost it needs would be Grammy nominations. This is what happened with Norah Jones, Maroon 5, and the Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Soundtrack, they all had weak sales until they got the grammy nods. The only problem is, lost and found will be nearly 1 year in release when the Grammy Awards roll around. What do you guys think?
  10. On the Black Album on "What More Can I say," Jay-Z twice says he's "willie" meaning flashy, has cash etc. In one line he says, "Lemme spell it for you W-I-Double L-I-E, nobody truer than H-O-V." What I'm wondering is, was the term "willie" around in rap before will made his 1996/97 comeback? Or do you guys think this term came about because of Will?
  11. From Entertainment Weekly, it's a very good review! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost and Found Will Smith Reviewed by Tom Sinclair 'LOST' BOY Smith pokes fun of himself on Found ''I never write verses with curses'' — or choruses, either — raps Will Smith on Lost and Found, pointing up one reason why some hardcore hip-hoppers hate on him. But realizing that living large is the best revenge, Big Willie doesn't waste too much time apologizing for his lack of crudeness. Whether recasting the Spider-Man theme as a rap tune (''Here He Comes''), poking fun at his own squeaky-clean image (''Mr. Niceguy''), or relating the tragic tale of a Fresh Prince-obsessed stalker (''Loretta''), Smith delivers a CD packed with the sort of undeniable pleasures only the most churlish thug could deny. Go ahead — get your jig on. Grade: B+
  12. Here's the Rolling Stone Review: 2 out of 4 Now that reality-show kids with less personality than most accountants are hitting the charts, you want to root for a good-natured celebrity like Will Smith to cook up some stupid-fun pop. On Lost and Found, he's got plenty of up-to-date beats from Timbaland and others, a Snoop cameo and lots of self-deprecating humor. Strangely, what he doesn't have is a commanding presence: His nice-guy-with-a-retrograde-flow shtick is fast running out of steam. Tracks like "Switch" might work in a club, but Smith is utterly unconvincing when he's paying homage to hip-hop icons ("I Wish I Made That/Swagga"), mourning 9/11 victims ("Tell Me Why") or dropping tepid disses ("Mr. Nice Guy"). The best you can say about Lost and Found is, there's no movie tie-in.
  13. Just wondering if anybody knows what day the Billboard Hot 100 Chart is updated each week, and where Will is this week if it has been updated?
