Will Smith Sued by Former Promoter

Will Smith, Hollywood nice guy or ruthless career wrecker?
If you believe a new lawsuit, the easy-going rapper-turned-man in black has torpedoed his ex-promoter's comeback.
According to a federal libel suit filed in Smith's hometown of Philadelphia, the former Fresh Prince made some disparaging comments about an unnamed record promoter in a recent Us magazine interview.
In the article, which appeared in the August issue, Smith said that the Philly promoter got him and partner DJ Jazzy Jeff to sign their first contract in the mid-1980s by placing a gun on the dashboard of a car "as they discussed business."
And, Smith added, once the promoter sold their contract to Jive Records, and their career subsequently took off with the single "Girls Ain't Nothing but Trouble," the steamed promoter "belatedly realized what he had signed away" and fired shots at the duo "every time he saw us."
While Smith, 28, never identified the promoter by name, one Dana Goodman says friends, associates and others in the Philly music scene knew it was a reference to him. Goodman--now a warehouse worker--denies the allegations and says the comments have ruined his chances of getting back in the recording industry. So, he brought the $3 million libel suit against Smith and Us.
"I have no clue why he would say anything of this nature about me," Goodman, 44, told the Philadelphia Daily News. "It was very disturbing...being as I was the person that got him started and launched his career." The suit says all business dealings were between Smith and Goodman were done "in a businesslike manner" in the presence of Smith's father and other witnesses.
Goodman, who claims to have launched the careers of Salt-N-Pepa, Roxanne Shante and Biz Markie, also told the News he considered Smith a friend. "His father entrusted me with his son, that I would take care of him...He came to my house...I loaned him my car for his prom."
No comment from Smith's camp.

That movie would be real cool if Will is gonna be the star. But then again Will said that he was gonna do 6 to 8 months of music and then I read that he agreed to Affirmative Action which will probably be release in April 06 and then Tonight He Comes which will probably release in the winter time next year I think. Will has a lot on his plate. But hey if he can make it work. It will be an awsome movie. :angel:

Maybe Will might come out with like a Special Edition cd like Usher did even tho it would be a pain in the butt if he did cuz you have to buy that album. But hey all in the name of Will Smith to see him at #1. Or maybe release another greatest hits record with the unreleased tracks. I know cause my Marvin Gaye greatest hits have sum unrelease tracks on it. :angel:

Yeah I remember that Dana Goodman sued Will for about 5mil I think for slander. But I don't remember if it was settled out of court or was it dismiss. I think it was dismiss cause basicly how can you sue somebody if they never mention you in the first place/ How do you know it was you. And let's say Will does get sued again he can say what a AJ said it's just a story about a young man comin' up in the rap, just a story. :angel:

Yep the willsmith board has really becoming scary. I read in one of the post a girl saying she is having Will's baby

Well I know Alfonso has directed a few episodes of "All of Us" of course you know whos show that is.
Janet Hubert-Whitten back I think it was 98 she sued Will Smith for causing between her and her husband divorce and slander. Then she started a children's line books and toys. She made an appearance on "The Bernie Mac Show" that was in 01 I think.
Nia Long is still doing movies and tv. Like she was in the movie with Ice Cube "Are We There Yet?"
Karyn Parsons spends most of her time in New York. But she does have a house in Cali she's been keeping a low profile.
James Avery has made a couple appearances on "All of Us".
But the rest I don't know what became of them.

Their gonna show Trey on Access Hollywood. I know Jeff has one kid it slip my mind to what his name was. Now I remember what it is , Jeff first born son his name is Cory Allen Townes. But that is the only kid I know of.

Yeah sum ppl would find it offensive like this day and age where it seems everybody is piss off about sumthin'. But the thing is tho Carmon Diaz is hispanic too just like Eva. But it's just that she plays a lot of rolls where she is a white girl not hispanic. Ppl like Taye Diggs got hate mail from his fans becuz he married a white women. I guess sum ppl don't mind inter-racial relationships as long as you don't put it on the big screne. Sum ppl feel that you should stick to your own race. But to me that is just stupid. :angel:

:angel: Well I think the title is wrong cuz there is already a film called "Bad Girls" I think. It's like set in the Western era and has a bunch of cowgirls in it. So the the title it's a no go. But a sequel to Bad Boys means that it would be Bad Boy3 and it won't focus on Will and Martin's characters but two new characters now that is hard to do. That probably won't do so well cuz ppl wanna see Will and Martin. I love Jada and Queen. They we're real good in "Set It Off". But this would be a hard sell. Will and Martin made Bad Boys a blockbusters. Ppl would think his wife is trying to muscle in on Will's movie success. I can see them doing it but it would have to be really different from Bad Boys. It has to be set somewhere else not Miami. Not involed in drugs. Well let's see what happens. :mikelowry:

It's not just the ppl that are ignorant. But the actors and actresses can be ignorant 2. Actors and actresses can choose who they want 2 do a kissing or lovemaking scene with. Sometimes the actors and actresses prejudice.
