  1. Turntable is right on.

DMX is how old? Almost 40 right and he can't even be a man. Get your act together, its seriously not hard. Does anyone really care about DMX? He's in jail ...again, who cares.

I'd rather be a "douche" then to be messed up like he is. You know, you guys rip on Kanye and Jay-Z for being so arrogant and cocky...etc but you know what? They never get arrested, they never get caught with anything, they're never in the news for stupid ****. Do you know how retardrd you look when your in jail time after time for more stupid crap and yet you're preaching how your gonna release a Gospel album and how your a Christian and all this, and yes I'm having a field day right now with this because of all slack I took about Kanye. Yah, Kanye says stupid things but he doesn't do stupid things like DMX does.

I haven't heard all of DMXs music but I def. have a good idea, however he also has some garbage lyrics/songs too.

  2. I still can't believe Jay-Z is talking about this ten years later, but naturally neither him or Nas would admit they lost the battle so its not Jay being cocky, its him just sticking up for himself. Its human nature.

Both rappers are extremely good. Consistency? Nas has had some crap albums as much as you guys knock on Jays catalog, The Black album was a hot album. BP 2 was a nice follow-up, "some people hate" , "the bounce" , "**** all nite" all hot tracks, it was nice. BP 3 for the most part is solid but it does have some crap tracks too like "reminder" and "venus vs mars"..

  3. I have no interest in him anymore. As a person he disgusts me too much. I'll give it a listen just 2 be fair but it's hard to like the music of someone you don't respect. I just don't see Kanye bringing "substance."

If you have no interest in him man, why do you respond?

Also, if your talking about how he is as a person, how in the world do you like DMX? Aren't you a big DMX fan?

  4. I agree with most of the comments on this. Especially with Brakes cause that one line "...and Eminem murdered you on your own ****." That single line was able to win it for Nas. Don't get me wrong, as much as I love Jay, he did get at Nas well with breaking down the album sales and what not, that was clever. Both are fantastic diss songs but Super Ugly was wack. It was rather disgusting which as a matter of fact, Jay-Z's mom made him apologize for. He was embarrassed by Nas with Ether and then his own mom lol

There's a great article on KevinNottingham.com (if you search for it) about the genesis of the beef but when it comes down to it, the center stage was "Takeover" vs "Ether", Jay picked the wrong MC to go at, he basically woke up a sleeping giant.

Not to get off topic, there is no way Nas is a better performer than Jay-Z. Last year (July 09), I saw Jay-Z live and then a week later Nas in concert. Jay-Z is a way better performer. Trust me on that one. Rap isn't really good live but there's a few exceptional performers (JJ+FP, LL, Jay-Z...etc). Nas did his thing live but Jay-Z was much better, Jay really put on a show.

@ Vipa, mad props for putting up "Blueprint 2" the title track, thats a great track which is ofter overlooked on the much slept on Blueprint 2 album.

  5. Hammer is just looking for some shine. Not that there's anything wrong with that but Jay-Z didnt take a shot at him. It's so funny how people can just take regular statements out of context. Was Jay-Z the 1st one to say that? No he wasn't. It's a fact. Hammer lost all that money, simple as that. Don't take it out on Jay-Z cause he publicly stated something everyone already knew. Now Hammer wants to move on? Funny how it all changes so quickly...I just can't take him seriously sometimes.

Oh for the record, I do have most of Hammer's discography including the b-sides (courtesy of AJ) and while he does have some good material, I wouldn't rank him as one of the best rappers ever. Entertainer? Yeah def one of the best ever and his "Better Run Run" track was catchy, I don't think the lyrics were anything special.

  6. Some of his G.O.O.D fridays track may not have been up to par, but Graduation was a hot CD and even though 808 and Heartbreaks wasn't as good, he was going in a different direction. I think I'm prob the only big Kanye fan here. lol. I agree with you guys regarding who he is as a person but musically its a whole different story to me. No way is he even CLOSE to being in the same class as Lil Wayne. No way. Lil Wayne is trash, straight up. I think we can all agree on that but Kanye is incredible. Have you heard any of his new songs? Power? Runaway? Dont Look Down, Dont Stop (w Lupe and Pharrell)? Monster and So Appalled (where Jay "dissed" Hammer) were average. There's only a few mainstream wise that's bringing it and Kanye is one of them. Lil Wayne, Souljah Boy, Bow Wow, Jeezy, T-Pain...aren't.

  7. Yah Kanye definitely has some issues in the head - no doubt about that and he obviously loves to be this controversial attention-garnering pop icon. I dont know why people are talking about this 5 years later. Did Kanye talk out of his ass back in 2005? Yes he did, he definitely did. To call someone a racist with really no accurate information is a low blow. Bush has every right to be pissed 5 years later. I'm not saying however Bush was right regarding his handling of the Katrina mess but did it seem like more could've/should've been done quicker? Yes definitely but it still is no grounds to call someone a racist.

There are so many different viewpoints. To me, Bush was wrong for not doing anything quicker and Kanye was wrong for calling him a racist. The whole story is really stupid honestly.

Kanye has some personal problems/issues he really does need to work out. All that aside, the man is a musical genius. One thing Kanye did say to Matt Lauer is that even though he may say the wrong things, its coming from a good soul. Kanye does have alot of soul, you can hear it in his beats and in his lyrics. To quote Diamonds from Sierra Leone - "and who throws a tantrum like he is 3 years old/you gotta love it though, somebody still speak from their soul."

I could care less whatever Kanye says or does, I'm a fan of good music and he really does make some real good music.

  8. This whole topic of Hammer vs Jay-Z is extremely ridiculous. Hammer is one of the greatest entertainers ever, however, the Jay-Z didn't diss him! Jay-Z was just stating the facts, like he said, he's not the 1st person to say it. I agree with Turntable, its Hammer's own fault. There's no way Hammer TRULY believes he's going to defeat Jay in a battle or knock him out of the game. That's just false hope. Hammer sees an opportunity to get back in the spotlight, and he's going for it. This battle was dead anyway because Jay won't respond because it wasn't a diss!

Hammer's "response" is the 1st "diss" song you can dance too but c'mon, I know Hammer's always been "average" when it comes to lyrics and his writing, he could've spit some more bars, 8 bars really? Not really doing any damage. The song is okay at best, I wouldn't say it's ill but its not bad. Just average.

  9. Thank you Lupe.

MTV is a waste, its completely irrelevant. Nobody gives a crap about reality shows, no one gives a crap about Jersey Shore where the whole premise of the show is how many people you can have sex with, NO ONE CARES. Theres so many mindless people that MTV is manipulating and taking advantage of by pushing this garbage. MTV is an abbreviation for Music Television, right? Where the hell is the music?! Alot of people say hip-hop is dead, well MTV is dead.

  10. This is fantastic news! I love Lupe, he seriously is one of Hip-Hop's brightest lights right now. I love the whole concept behind the album, POSITIVITY, LOVE & HAPPINESS!

If you want a preview - download
Shinning Down (ft. Matthew Santos) - I love this song!
    I'm Beamin' - Amazing!
Solar Midnite (from the Harry Potter soundtrack), a great track which is a fusion of rock and rap.
