VIDEO: Will Smith Beams with Pride over Tyler Perry's Studio Tyler Perry became the first African-American ever to launch his own major TV and film studio on Saturday night. Attendees at the opening of "Tyler Perry Studios" including Will Smith, Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Hank Aaron and Whitney Houston. R&B star Mary J Blige preformed at the opening ceremony which took place in the new studio built on 30 acres in southwest Atlanta, Georgia. "I was thinking about leaving at one point, but this is home for me," Perry told reporters. He also said the old near-downtown studio was "spiritually in the wrong place." Will Smith was overwhelmed with emotions. "This is an American first, and the first in the universe," said the I Am Legend star. "There is something happening in America and in the world that's powerful. He is not letting anyone get in his way. "Those are the wonderfully naïve, arrogant, humble, powerfully American concepts that make things powerful in this country. It's big." Rumor: Men in Black 3 is Still in Development Somewhere?
Ale replied to Ale's topic in Will Smith Movies
I'm with viber. MIB might be a more important movie than I am Legend, but if we're talking about performances, then I don't need to say that 'Legend' is far superior to MIB (and of course MIB 2), which is better for Will's career. Because I'm sure that's what Will wants, to be a better actor, to improve and develope his skills with every movie he makes (at least lately), so I don't think MIB 3 could help him to reach that, especially when the second part was so bad. Will needs to make movies like 'Seven Pounds' where people can appreciate his skills as an actor. -
"Notorious" Posters "Notorious" is about the life of rapper Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious BIG. In just a few short years, The Notorious BIG rose from the streets of Brooklyn to become one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time. BIG was a gifted storyteller; his narratives about violent life on the streets were told with a gritty, objective realism that won him enormous respect and credibility. His stories were universal and gave a voice to his generation. The film stars multiple award winner Angela Bassett as Christopher's mother Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Sean Combs, Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur and introducing Jamal Woolard as The Notorious BIG. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on January 16th, 2009. http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?...286&count=0

Rumor: Men in Black 3 is Still in Development Somewhere?
Ale replied to Ale's topic in Will Smith Movies
Since I'm not a MIB fan and for me Men In Black 2 is one of his worst movies, I hope he doesn't make another sequel. -
No problem!

September 29, 2008 Source: Parade by Alex Billington I'm getting quite tired of running rumors like this, but alas, it's news people want to read about. We were recently pointed towards a quote in the latest issue of Parade where producer Walter Parkes apparently comments on the status of another Men in Black movie. In response to a question about a Men in Black 3, Parkes says "the challenge is getting the script right and finding a time when our busy stars are available." But that's not all. "Everyone, including Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, wants to do another." Since when? Some quick background research uncovers a story from way back in 2005, where Parkes said that there have "been some conversations" but not much more. So is this real news or not? It's hard to say that Parade would be digging up old rumors and quoting a producer out of context, which makes me believe this quote is actually legitimate news. I'll be making some calls today to try and find out a bit more, but I'm just not so sure if this really means we'll see a third movie anyway. Parkes, remarkably, accurately described the second Men in Black (from 2002), saying "I don't think we did the best possible job on the second one." Really?! I know I really didn't like it at all, but that may just be me. One of the big current Hollywood trends surrounds bringing back seemingly "dead" franchises and it looks like Men in Black is the perfect candidate for a big-time return. But would it actually end up any good? http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/09/29/rum...ment-somewhere/

"Legend" Prequel, "Hancock" Sequel? They may be amongst the weakest films he's done, but Will Smith's two most recent major hits look like they're about to become franchises. First up, Warner Bros. Pictures has set in motion a prequel to post-apocalyptic thriller "I Am Legend" which Francis Lawrence will again direct reports the trades. Writer D.B. Weiss is currently working on a script. Smith is expected to return to the role of military scientist Robert Neville in the story that will deal with the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith's character the lone survivor in a barren city over-run by deadly nocturnal mutants. In less official news, a reliable source tells Dark Horizons that Sony has quietly set a "Hancock" sequel into development. More on that when it comes. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080925i.php
