  1. Why in 2016 would a Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince tour matter? Will is 47, Jeff is 50, and they haven't released an official album together in 23 years. I think you have to understand hip hop and it's history and where it is now to understand it's importance. Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince paved the way for hip hop becoming popular, acceptable and worthy of recognition (First Grammy Award). They have sold over 40 million records and yet have barely toured. Will has always been busy with a TV show, a movie career and bringing up a young family.  Right now seems a perfect time to celebrate the legacy of Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince. They have millions of fans young and old who found great joy from their music. It wasn't always serious, it was sometimes lighthearted, fun, feel good music. It's the kind of music that stays with you, that brings back positive memories. How can you not listen to Summertime and think of a warm sunny day and family barbecues?  I think over the last few years Will has gotten away from what made him so successful, what made him so popular. The world tour and a return to music is exactly what the world needs right now. We want the Fresh Prince back, the YouTube views for Will & Jeff doing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme on Graham Norton are a clear indication of the love people still have for some Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff. I think hip hop right now is really imbalanced. There is a lack of creditable female emcees, strong and positive messages and true artistry. The fact that young people think Will should stop rapping because he is 47 is a true sign of ignorance. I can't think of any other genre where a musician is told he has to stop making art because he's older. Is that what you would really say to Miles Davis or Charles Mingus or Donald Byrd? Would you tell James Brown to stop because he's older? Hell no! In fact with age comes wisdom so the music Will would create now would most likely be far more powerful than when he was younger. I know he has plenty to say. This Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince world tour should be a true celebration of what their music has done in the world. It has opened up doors to TV and to hollywood, to mainstream chart success and it has brought joy to so many people. No one ever did what Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince did now let's see them put on one of the great hip hop tours of all time.

I remember that there used to be a thread called "What are you watching?" in this forum, I tried digging out, couldn't find it, it was one of my favorite threads so I figure I'd bring it back, feel free to post some of the favorite videos you enjoy watching, keep it appropriate though I was online last night talking to one of my friends and he referred me to this video of the top male performances of American Idol: I also watched the top 10 American Idol performances ever last night: Recently I was watching "Michael Jordan Come Fly With Me" on NBATV: http://youtu.be/jAeOhSITASk

  4. In-demand hip-hop producer, Mars from 1500 Or Nothin, reveals to XXLMag.com that Will Smith is working on a new rap album… La Mar “Mars” Edwards is one of the busiest producers in the game right now. He had a hand in most of the tracks for Game’s new LP, The R.E.D. Album, and he’s gearing up for the late September return to music by his close compatriots, T.I. “Definitely, that’s my brother, we got a company together,” Mars said on the phone form his home in LA about whether he has tracks already waiting for Tip once he gets out of prison next month. “He’ll always be my brother, he’ll always be a friend and production partner. I’ll always be working with Tip. He’s been sitting for a year. So I’ve been thinking about my brother. I have all different types of directions, all types of different stuff.” Mars and 1500 Or Nothin, his collective of producers/musicians, certainly have enough to stay busy in the interim. “We’re working on Tip, we’re working on the High School movie with Snoop and Wiz Khalifa. We’re working on Will Smith, bringing him back. That’s actually him on the other line right now. Snoop’s daughter, we just put out her first single. We’re doing the whole album. Mario wants me to d a mixtape with him, we’re working on that. I’m working on Ashanti. We’re just working on as much as possible.” Besides producing songs such as “Martians Vs Goblins” (featuring Tyler The Creator) and “Speakers on Blast” (with Big Boi and E-40) for Game, Mars is also one of the co-executive producers on The R.E.D. Album which drops on August 23. —Shaheem Reid http://www.xxlmag.co...omeback-albums/
  5. I'm pretty sure we've all seen the Smith's reaction to Miley Cyrus' over the top VMA performance, so let's talk about it. There's not really much to say other than it's hilarious and represents the way millions felt when they watched her. Personally, I think Jaden wins the award fro the best reaction. If only we know if it was because of Miley or because he was thinking "I used to manage Robin Thicke's career and now he's wearing that awful Beetlejuice suit...LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R90pFc4RT4Y It looks like it has since been removed, but within an hour, Willow posted on her Facebook "Miley turnt it up though." Maybe as a way to smooth things over since their expressions weren't favorable...LOL
