The New Will Smith?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I agree that he's getting compared to Will rather than 50 cent or other rappers like that. Nick may not end up being as successful as Will, but I still think he'll do well. I think Nick Cannon is pretty cool so I'm kinda excited to see that sitcom! It sounds funny! :wiggle:

The way I see it is that it's a good thing if people are trying to be like Will (not saying that Nick Cannon is). If lots of people tried to be like Will then it's likely something good will come out of it, hopefully not exactly the same as Will, but maybe a bit similar.

Yeah AJ is right, if they are looking for someone to compare him to for the article then who else could they pick?

Ditto! Nick is a good rapper and just an ok actor but he is a friend of will smith and it is not right to compare them! He writes his own rhymes and is on his way, but I don't think that he will be that big.

It is good that he is trying to be like Will, not any of the other gangsta rappers who suck (50), so I hope for the best for him.

I think it's really stupid that so many people have said "He'll never be like Will." I'm not saying he'll be bigger or anything. But in 1986, how many Hip-Hop fans do u think JJ+FP would never amount 2 anything. Now Will Smith is one of the most popular people in the whole world.

no it's not really stupid. Will actually garnered more respect early in his career, and established himself as a solid Hollywood force. He had a huge TV hit, as we all know, and did serious movies, and a big action movie (Bad Boys) by the time he was 24 or 25. Nick cannon is what... 23 or 24 yrs old. People still look at him as a someNickelodeon child actor. He hasn't made the significant steps Will had. Seeing it as that, his movies are typical black, immature, ghetto comedies, but Will stepped out of that genre by the same age Nick is right now. AJ, it's dumber respecting someone like Nitty, (i forgot all about the guy) who hasn't even made a scrtach mark on the music scene. Plus, u say you respect people who don't talk about sex, yet what did Nitty's video include? Half-naked girls all dancin for him.

I never heard anybody said that Nick Cannon's their favorite mc or their favorite actor, he did release an album already and did some movies too, but when JJFP came out with their 1st album, they had a lot of credability in hip-hop with a gold album in a time where not many hip-hop albums went gold, Will was only 18 years old around that time, by the time he was in his mid-20s like mimi said, JJFP won some Grammies, released some classic albums, toured with Run-Dmc and Public Enemy, and "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" was a huge hit, then Will was starting to become a movie star that he is now, Nick Cannon could never be the next Will Smith, Will's a pioneer for rappers today going into movies, none of them have his success, I don't think Nelly, Ja Rule, or 50 Cent are taking Will's place in Hollywood or on the mic either but they do all have more credability as a rapper than Nick Cannon has at this points, people even talk about them more than they do about Nick Cannon when it comes to rap credability. Ja Rule trying to be the next 2Pac hasn't worked out either that well, people should try to be themselves, if Nick Cannon tries too hard to be like Will Smith, he'll fail, at this point he's a C-rated actor and a C-rated rapper, if people buy his album it's to check out who's featured on it rather than him and when people go see him in a film, they go to see other people, not him, he does have time to improve though so I ain't dissin' him, he's a work in progress. btw, There's nothin' wrong with rapping about sex, Will does too a lil' bit but he does it in a tasteful way, Nitty and Nick Cannon probably do too and I think that's what AJ means there, it's not like dialougue from a porno film, lol.

That comparision is just for the sake of reviewing Nick Cannon by the person who wrote the article because Nick's claim to fame, even though is remotely similar to Will, resembles slightly only to that of Will Smith's career than any other rapper in the current mainstream lot. So it does not necessarily mean that Nick Cannon is going to be the next Will Smith. Right peeps? :2thumbs:

Think about Nick's age...compared 2 FP at that age, Nick Cannon has already ran circles around FP's movie career at his early 20's. Without FP paving the way...i doubt Nick Cannon could have accomplished so much on the movie front without FP's clearing the way.
