Yea, AJ I would agree with you, if it wasnt for the fact that what your saying is total nonsence.

Jewlery is part of Jay-Z's reality; he does have that, you can call it an insignificant part of his reality (witch it really isn't because jewlery isnt just a metal and rocks, its a symbol for something.) but that does not make it less of a reality. Partying is part of Will smiths life, and so are most of the things he raps about in the song.

You need to start looking further then your nose is long.

U can think whatever u want 2 help u sleep better at nite with the idea that Jay-Z is one of the best artists that Hip-Hop has 2 offer. I've been down with Hip-Hop since the mid-80's. I've grown up on stuff that could never let me consider him as one of the top 50 emcees.

Jay Z is one of my Top MCs, and that's how I feel about it. Not ALL his songs are about What he hasm anbd him bragging, just like not ALL of Will's songs aren't. you can't say dude has no skill because he raps aobut his jewlery in some songs, and completely overlook his truly great songs.

I mean, I could understand if that's all he spit about (Because I can't stand that either), but the black album was like 2% Gold Chains, 98% himself, and that was his most recent work.

Well, I really don't think about rappers that much when i'm in bed at night, and certainly not Jay-Z. I'm not even a Jay-Z fan; His only album I own is resonable doubt.

But wether or not I concider him a top 50 rappers is totally besides the point, seriously, I never stated that Jay-Z is even a reasonably good rapper. This however does not mean that jewlery is not his reality. You need to start seperarting things, with your black and white tunnel vision.

People on the board need to chill the **** out.

I Ain't going thru the jay-z legend **** again. In my taste, Jay-Z is the best. A Legend. The Throneholder. BUT, I also know that he has done wack songs and rhymes.

I Also think FRESH PRINCE is one of the greatest ever. BUT, i also know that he has done wack songs and rhymes.

DKNY all up in my eye

you gotta Prada bag with alotta stuff in it

give it to your friend let's spin

everybody lookin' at me

glancin' the kid

wishin' they was dancin' a jig

here with this handsome kid

ciga-cigar right from Cuba-Cuba

I just bite it

it's for the look I don't light it

illway the an-may on the ance-day oor-flay

givin' up jiggy make it feel like foreplay

yo my car-dee-o is Infinit-

ha ha

Big Willie Style's all in it

Gettin' Jiggy Wit It

We were talking materialistic?

Jigga:

[Verse One]

This **** is wicked on these mean streets

None of my friends speak

We're all trying to win, but then again

Maybe it's for the best though, cause when they're seeing too much

You know they're trying to get you touched

Whoever said illegal was the easy way out couldn't understand the mechanics

And the workings of the underworld, granted

Nine to five is how to survive, I ain't trying to survive

I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot

Life ills, poison my body

I used to say '**** mic skills'

And never prayed to God, I prayed to Gotti

That's right it's wicked, that's life I live it

Ain't asking for forgiveness for my sins, ends

I break bread with the late heads, picking their brains for angles on

all the evils that the game'll do

It gets dangerous, money and power is changing us

And now we're lethal, infected with D'Evils...

[Verse Two]

We used to fight for building blocks

Now we fight for blocks with buildings that make a killing

The closest of friends when we first started

But grew apart as the money grew, and soon grew black-hearted

Thinkin back when we first learned to use rubbers

He never learned so in turn I'm kidnappin his baby's mother

My hand around her collar, feeding her cheese

She said the taste of dollars was ****ty so I fed her fifties

About his whereabouts I wasn't convinced

So I kept feedin her money 'til her **** started to make sense

Who could ever foresee, we used to stay up all night at slumber parties

Now I'm tryin to rock this bitch to sleep

All the years we were real close

Now I see his fears through her tears

Know she's wishin we were still close

Don't cry, it is to be

In time, I'll take away your miseries and make 'em mine, D'Evils...

[Verse Three]

My flesh, no nigga could test

My soul is possessed by D'Evils in the form of diamonds and lexuses

The Exorcist, got me doing skits like Homie

You don't know me, but the whole world owe me - strip!

Was thought to be a pleasant guy all my ****ing life

So now I'm down for whatever, ain't nothing nice

Throughout my junior high years it was all friendly

But now this +Higher Learning+ got the +Remy+ in me

Liquors invaded my kidneys

Got me ready to lick off, mama forgive me

I can't be held accountable, D'Evils beatin me down, boo

Got me runnin with guys, making G's, tellin lies that sound true

Come test me, I never cower

For the love of money, son, I'm giving lead showers

Stop screamin, you know the demon said it's best to die

And even if +Jehovah Witness+, bet he'll never testify, D'Evils...

Moment of clarity:

Music business hate me cause the industry ain't make me

Hustlers and boosters embrace me and the music I be makin

I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars

They criticized me for it yet they all yell "HOLLA!"

If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be

lyrically, Talib Kweli

Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense

But I did five mill' - I ain't been rhymin like Common since

When your cents got that much in common

And you been hustlin since, your inception

**** perception go with what makes sense

Since I know what I'm up against

We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant

And I can't help the poor if I'm one of them

So I got rich and gave back, to me that's the win/win

So next time you see the homey and his rims spin

Just know my mind is workin just like them...

... rims, that is

The lyrics, flow and rhymescheme on that last verse is unbelievable
