JAY-Z ON BIG WILLIE STYLE

Recommended Posts

Well rappers like LL and FP tend to make songs about what's currently going on in their lives more than Jay-Z does even though they're all known more for their club tracks, but everybody's different and has different tastes in music, Jay-Z likes to reminise off his past more so if some wanna hear more 'hood stories they'll listen to Jay-Z but if they wanna hear somethin' about everyday life in general, they'll listen to FP or LL, a lot of people buy their albums so you can't really hate on them for that.

dang y'all can't come in here and get mad cuz we think Will's better cuz this is a Will Smith message board. 2 most of the people in here, Will is their favorite rapper so we're gonna like him more than Jay-Z.

:ditto:

But u gotta let them others talk about the rappers they like either tho! So anyone just says his opinion here... Be cool guys! :kool:

Jewlery is jay-z's reality, getting jiggy with it is wills reallity, i dont get what not reality based about it, maybe jay-z is a lil more serious realistic sometimes

Exactly, what I'm saying - just because Jay's reality doesn't share YOUR reality, doesnt make it HIS reality. Everyone has a different reality, and jay talks about his, the street stuff that he talks about he doesn't even talk as if he's still doing it, he talks about it in past tense, it's becaus it's what he did. To discredit it because it doesn't relate to you, is retarded, because then you'd have to do the same for the current way Will is. When he mentions getting 20 Mill a movie, can you relate to that? No, when he talks about Black Radio not playing HIS music, can you relate to that? No. When he talks about the money he has, enough to 'kiss the sky', can you relate to that? No. It's the same vein.

Everybody could relate to Will's songs like "Chasing Forever", "Just The Two Of Us", "Tell Me Why", "The Rain", "Afro Angel", "Twinkle Twinkle..." "Who Am I?", "Could You Love Me", and "Ms. Holy Roller" though to name a few, Will doesn't always talk about money and jewlery in all his songs, neither does Jay-Z, but Jigga does talk about money and jewlery sometimes though, he can't say that all of his music everyone could relate to.

Songs that I relate to by Jay-Z, that have NOTHING to do with Jewelry, on top of that, a few you may even relate to yourself. Plus, you make the comment that "he can't say all of his music everyone can relate to', you can't really the same for any artist.

"Somehow, Someway"

"This Can't Be Life"

"Song Cry"

"Blueprint (Momma Loves Me)"

"Hard Knock Life"

"Soon You'll Understand"

"Girls, Girls, Girls"

"December 4th"

"Allure"

Jewerly isn't a reality...it's something u where. And gettin' Jiggy isn't a reality either. It's and escapism party pop joint. FP's jiggy factor is here and there, but i've heard alot of Jay-Z's stuff and i mostly heard the emptiness of stuff like jewery in his music.

Yea, AJ I would agree with you, if it wasnt for the fact that what your saying is total nonsence.

Jewlery is part of Jay-Z's reality; he does have that, you can call it an insignificant part of his reality (witch it really isn't because jewlery isnt just a metal and rocks, its a symbol for something.) but that does not make it less of a reality. Partying is part of Will smiths life, and so are most of the things he raps about in the song.

You need to start looking further then your nose is long.

first of all, i'd say they are a lot of jay z's peeps on this board who are arguing desperately for him, which is surprising.

i get bigted's and aj's point. 'reasonable doubt' is jay's best no doubt, it's referred to as the 'hustler's record', 'cause jay went 'thru hell to rise to the top.

but that said, i think over the years he has forgotten his humble past and grown too cocky and arrogant in his music and behaviour. the low point was dissing nas on that terrible diss song. his arguments: nas isn't selling records and don't appear on the charts anymore! is that what hip hop's all about? commercialism has ruined hip hop and jay z was contributory to that. that's also 50's arguments to his rivals, "i sold 11 million copies and they didn't even go platinum..." bulls***!

'big willie style' was a commercial rap record, with smooth rhymes (personally, i think will's flow was best here than on any of his albums) and old sampled records. but it sold more than jay's commercial attempt 'vol 1' which was ravaged by critics.

and finally, i think jay is a will hater. on a song in his 'roc la familia: the dynasty', he drops a line which was damn too cocky for my liking it goes

"even sold more records than will smith"

I don't listen to Jay-Z that much, "Reasonable Doubt" which is the only album from him that I like isn't even one of my top 50 favorite hip-hop albums to listen to, I listen to it 2 times a year at the most, but it doesn't make me a Jay-Z hater to say that, it's just that I love ol' school hip-hop more than anything and I think that the ol' school pioneers should be mentioned before any of these commercial rappers including Jay-Z when talking all-time greats, there needs to be more balance in hip-hop and that's nothin' against Jay-Z, Will and other pioneers should be able to get airplay on hip-hop radio, not just Jay-Z, when hip-hop is more than just 2Pac/Biggie/Jay-Z/Nas/Eminem, even though I'm a fan of 2Pac and Nas, I recognize that there was cats like Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Heavy D, and Rakim that paved the way for them and they put out great music too. Anyway I'm done discussing this and I think Jay-Z should show nothin' but love to Will 'cause Will opened the doors for hip-hop today. :blabla:

diehardwill, your an idiot, seriously its official now.

I'm not even that big of a jay-z fan, but thats besides the point.

that line is obviously not the line of a hater, its giving respect to Will. If Will hadnt acomplished anything? if his name did not symbolize something then why would Jay say he "EVEN" sold more then him?

Besides, what do you have against being cocky? against being arogant? the reason Jay-Z acts like hes better then alot of people ( JUST LIKE WILL DOES) is because he actually is, in many ways. You can't deny that.(Well you can but you would be wrong.)

and

is that what hip hop's all about?

No, but it is what alot of peoples lives are about, jay-z tries to be as big as he can be NAS TRIED THE COMMERCIAL THING ASWELL, its not like Jay was dissing Talib Kweli or something. I mean OOCHIE WALLY WALLY OOCHIE BANG BANG.(I think Nas is a better rapper then jay-z but this is again besides the point.)

And the pioneer/legend blah blah is getting way out of hand now! PEOPLE DONT LISTEN TO WHO EVER PAVED SOME WAY FOR SOMEONE 20 YEARS OGO! THEY LISTEN TO WHO MAKES MMUSIC THEY LIKE!!

Nice said man, I agree u! How I said before Jay-Z is ok but whatchu sayin' is right! I don't listen to Jay-Z either but I also don't hate him or anything! Jay-Z is pretty cool but he shouldn't talk like that, how he does right now! I mean he should give Will some love, he should like him and work with him and shouldn't always open his mouth and say somethin' against Will or maybe even somethin' bad about Will! Or also about all the other rappers, because that's really ridiculous for me! Everybody shows off a lil' and all that but they just shouldn't only talk crap about the others! How I said, Jay-Z is ok tho'... :kool:
