hey Maxfly Will finished filming Hitch in March 2004.. he then spent from April 2004 to March 2005 on Lost and Found focused solely on music..the only track he recorded while he was still doing movies was Tell Me Why.. he says it in here he comes..no time conflicts with movies or a sitcom for this album.. I think that is one of the reasons why its so good.. still if Will did 2 movies a year which take 3-4 months to make..that still leaves him 3-4 months where he could record an album with jazzy! i'm hoping we dont have to wait another 3 years for the next album.. Frenetic where are you? in Australia switch is on the radio on the music video channels being played everywhere one of the top 5 ringtone downloads..the singles are racing off the shelves next week it should go to #1 and it will definitely go gold..

Thanks for correcting me Tim.

So Will is going to have done a year and 4 months without filming... focused solely on music? Cause if it's like that, all this talk of him "rushing" back into movies is unfounded. In this case, he would have already taken almost a year and a half away from film.

Yeah he's taken a lot of time off so we've been spoilt..because he finished I, Robot, Hitch and Sharktale..it gaves him a bit of space..so he could take time off seems he had 3 movies coming out in the next 8 or 9 months

Basically everyone... as of August this year, Will will have taken almost a year and a half away from movies to focus solely on music. About 16 months... 16 months in music ya'll... Now it really really doesn't seem like a rush back into film does it. :poke: Well does it?

And another poke for good measure. :poke:

I'd just like him to do music for the next year or two. Drop another album...

God Blessa!

That's a bit much if you mean nonstop. That means 2 or three years without a new movie...

Will can still record inbetween films... perhaps even inbetween shooting... I'm content with that.

Well I'm not. Will can do whatever he wants, but I want him to do less movies and more music. Lost and Found is a great album, so I want more. I can take L&F with me anywhere. I can take I, Robot with me anywhere, and I don't want to, to be honest.

I'd like another album before another movie. If Will just keeps going in and out of music then his name doesn't stay in the minds of people when they think about music. Fact is that the people on these boards who have been a community together for years have waited for years in between album after album. So of course I wanna see an album right after an album. Instead of the juggling that I'm so used to seeing.

God Blessa!

Lost and Found is a great album... you definitely should want more... But Will's involvement in movies doesn't prevent him from writing and recording. I've made this argument already, but I'l reiterate... The Lost and Found tracks that we have now were written during the time Will was filming I, Robot, Hitch, and recording for Shark Tale. His involvement in movies didn't prevent him from writing a little over 50 tracks for the album. What the movies will prevent Will from doing is touring. That should be the real concern for those who want Will to do a US or world tour. But doing movies shouldn't affect much outside of the hip hop appearances.

Also, if Will just keeps going in and out of movies, his name won't stay in the minds of people when they think about movies. In the US, we have a saying... "same difference." Therefore, Will does need to juggle. It's essential if he wants to stay in the forefront of the film industry as well as trying to stay in the music industry. If Will doesn't do a movie for 2 years and then comes out with something like Wild Wild West after that time... his movie career will suffer. Tom Cruise, Denzel, Halle, Tom Hanks... they don't disappear for 2 years and then come out with another movie. They keep it constant so that if something does come out a dud, they can rebound quickly.

Keep in mind, I'm not advocating movies over the music. I want Will to release music more frequently as well, but he's no longer just a recording artist. He's a top attraction in the film industry as well now. This is not Ice Cube we're talking about.

Movies and music are not the same. Chris Tucker hasn't done a movie in years. When people think of him, they think of his movies. Will even said it himself. He can't do his best if he's not concentrating on one of them. And I want him to concentrate on music. Simple as that.

And I'm in the US. When people say "same difference" it's because they said something wrong in the first place when they meant something else. I have no idea why you think that has anything to do with him juggling two careers. You sound like Will's agent or something.

God Blessa!

And I would rather that he focus on the two equally. I, Robot and Hitch were hot and Lost and Found is one of the best hip hop albums to come out in years. If he can keep that kind of success, I'll be happy. Simple as that.

That would be great, but history has shown that it doesn't get to work like that. He even said he needed to focus his energy on his rapping. He was also frustrated during the interviews he was in just before and after L&F was released because the people interviewing him kept asking "Why are you doing music?" or "What's your next movie?" I think Will realizes that he really put that on himself by focusing more on acting.

Plain and simple, I'd like to see another album before another movie.

God Blessa!

Shouldn't he try to focus on this album first. A new album was released a little over a month ago. There will be at least 2 more singles from this album with accompanying videos. He should be focusing on promoting those singles before he starts thinking ahead to another album.

Truth of the matter is that according to Tim, he'll not have filmed a movie for almost a year and a half when he starts filming again in August or September. Do we want him to forego movies for another year to year and a half? Do we want to go almost three years before we see him in another film in theaters? Should we be fine with not getting another movie until sometime in late 2007 or early 2008. Maybe it's me, but such a scenario just seems completely absurd and unacceptable for a movie star of his calibur. Really.

I read the interview that tim posted up from hiphop connection: it says he's gonna spend a couple of months doings smaller shows.

And yeah, I read in a paper that will is the biggest male actor right now. so it would be stupid to let that slip away.

I'm sure will has a few more songs. And some time after pursuit of happiness to a couple more songs could mean a new album.

ooh..i'm daydreamin again.

I didn't say anything about him ditching L&F to work on another album.

You seem so much more concerned with Will's image to the people than what he actually does. You said:

"Do we want him to forego movies for another year to year and a half? Do we want to go almost three years before we see him in another film in theaters? Should we be fine with not getting another movie until sometime in late 2007 or early 2008."

This doesn't have to be a uninamous decision, we can have our own opinions. People are not going to magically forget that Will Smith was in their favorite movies 2 years ago. They won't forget he's an actor. Heck, most adults don't know him to be anything other than an actor.

As for the year and half off. Good. But we didn't even hear the first song for almost a full year during his time off. And you can't have it both ways. Two days ago you were arguing that he wrote those songs while filming. Now you're trying to use the fact that he didn't to support your argument.

"Maybe it's me, but such a scenario just seems completely absurd and unacceptable for a movie star of his calibur. Really."

I think this mindset is your entire problem right here.

God Blessa!

I was under the impression that Will wrote tracks for Lost and Found even while he was filming... and since he himself has said that he'd written upwards of 50 tracks for the album... it's reasonable to assume as such. It turns out that Tell Me Why is the only track actually on Lost and Found that he'd written prior to the time he took time off to focus on music. Tell Me Why is one of the tightest tracks on the album, so my contention that Will can still write good music while filming and doing other things stands firm.

What I'm focusing on is that come August, according to Tim, Will will have taken a year and 4 months away from filming to focus on music. Let him get back to movies for 3-4 months and then spend a little more time on music after that. No need to rush back into the studio to record another album. Filming another movie between album releases should have no adverse effects on the quality of music he produces. What's more, he's filming a different type of movie.... not the conventional summer blockbuster but a rather serious role... The general consensus on this forum is that people would like to see Will in more serious acting roles when he films. What's confusing is that now that he's doing something a bit more serious, there are people who still seem to be unhappy, even after he's stated the amount of time that he would concentrate on music. You can't please everyone all the time.

I don't really have anything to say to this. I don't feel like beating a dead horse. This all comes down to opinions and I'd rather have more music than more movies. You just need to accept that.

The only reason that I've pursued this type of conversation is that peope are saying things like "this is horrible news," "i dont give a f*** about his flicks... this is such crap." Those are pretty strong sentiments to hold. It's almost as if people don't respect his film career. Really, what other conclusion can be drawn?

What happened to

"When you hear a record on your radio station

It?s probably gettin? played all through out the nation

But we got lucky, ours is playin? Germany,

France, Japan, Sweden, London, Italy

So therefore, we had to go on tour

City after city

Encore, encore

Bravo, bravo

Sorry we gotta go

We got other show tomorrow night in Reno"?

A world-tour is the last wish my fan-heart's still missin', as I was about 2 years when these lyrics where written... :mad22:

Damn this topic is getting out of hand now, Will said that he's gonna do performances and more singles'll be released between now and August, what more do you want from him? :speechless: I don't see anybody in showbuisiness working as hard as him, there's no need for us to question his work ethic. :poke:

Yepp, not James Brown, Will Smith is the hardest working man in showbusiness, don't y'all think, too? Will always surprises me tho', how does he do that??? He works so much and so damn hard, I can't believe that... :ali:
