Was Will wrong to work with Elephant Man?

Recommended Posts

it wasnt wrong for him to work with Elephant Man..but I just lost all respect for EMan...not that I had a whole lot of respect for him in the first place..i can hardly understand a word he says..but I'm sure Will doesnt have the same views on homosexuality as him..remember 6 degrees? he learned a lot form that experience

Those lyrics are pure, unadulterated hate. For all the talk about some rappers being homophobic for their casual, slang-type use of suggestioning homosexuality and the "f-word" as disses, this is straight up, hold-no-punches HATE on the gay community. No matter WHAT your "views" are on gays/lesbians, that is, w/out question, objectively wrong, ppl. Not sure if I could write off collabing with someone like that as just a musical association, but I guess that was Will's call.

When it comes 2 Dancehall and Reggae, Elephant Man isn't one of the people i listen 2, but i think the remix is blazing. I don't care about what he says on his album as long as he dosen't drag it on2 FP's album. Whoever dosen't like it better cover there ears with that Elephant Man remix drops featuring FP and Redman.

I believe that the remix with Elephant Man was just business nothing personal. I think Will probably doesn't agree with Elephant Man beliefs, Will just likes the style of his music and likes the way he presents it. O and I don't think Da Breaks looks like Ele.

:werd:

I think Will working with him was all about the music and nothing to do with elephant man as a person.

Considering the positive message Will brings, I'm surprised he worked with this guy who advocates the murdering of gay people in his music. Here are some of his charming lyrics:

Elephant Man - A Nuh Fi Wi Fault

Battyman fi dead!

Please mark we word

Gimme tha tec-nine

Shoot dem like bird

Shoot them [queers] like birds

Queers must be killed!

Please mark my words

Give me the Tec-9 (semi-automatic assault pistol)

Shoot them like birds

Elephant Man - We Nuh Like Gay

Battyman fi dead! Tek dem by surprise

Get a shot inna yu head, inna mi big gun collide.

Gimme me Tec-9 General B, wid de chrome wah a shine

Shot out ah bugger-man

Queers must be killed! Take them by surprise

I am going to shoot you in the head, you are going to meet up with my big gun

Give me the Tec-9 General B, the one with the chrome that shines

shoot all queer men

Elephant Man - Log On

(Log on is a type of dance using the right foot in a stepping motion as if to squash a cockroach - the lyrics boast about stamping on gay men and setting them on fire)

Log on and step pon chi chi man

Dance wi a dance and a bun out a freaky man.

Step pon him like a old cloth

A dance wi a dance and a crush out a bingi man

Do di walk, mek mi see the light and di torch dem fast

Log on and step on a queer man

Join our dance and let’s burn out the queer man

Step on him like an old cloth

Join our dance and let’s crush queer men

Do the walk, quickly let me see the lighter and torch (makeshift aerosol flame thrower weapon)

:nono:

I like to think Will didn't know about some of his content. I don't know his personal views on gay people, but I'm sure he'd find these lyrics kind of disgusting.

What do you think? Please don't take this as an attack on Will. I was just surprised he worked with him, but like I said, he may not know much about him and his record label could've just linked him up with him cause he's considered 'cool' in some circles.

The issue is well known here in the UK after he had his MOBO nomination removed for this reason.

I don't know what Will thought but I hate this man there... :nono:

i think y'all posting for nothing! elephant man wrote his rhymes, well! but in this case they are shown out of context and can somebody tell in which conditions it has be written? Will is not a fool, if Elephant man is on Switch that's before because he's one of the best artists of dancehall.

The remix is very hot!! who cares about he sounds homophobic or not? Will collaborated with Lil'Kim, Snoop Dogg, Mary J.Blige, K-Ci, Slick Rick... everybody's not clean in music so why should people think Will did a mistake?

I didn't say Will did a mistake but I hate Elephant Man! And the others u've mentioned are pretty ok! For example Snoop - he is very cool, I mean ok, normally he makes gangsta rap but he himself is very cool, his character and all is well and now, the music he makes right now at the moment is way betta than his gangsta music! U know, right now he makes R&B style, he raps for sure but he also does something like singing and the beats are just very smooth and slow, just like R&B u know? I mean he should always do that, what he does right now is the best style he has but how I said even if he didn't make it like now, if he did or continue doing gangsta rap again, I still would like him, I wouldn't say I hate him now or so... Know I'm sayin'? Hope y'all understand... :sonny:

Considering Will has worked with Cam'Ron, Lil Kim, Eve, Big Pun, Petey Pablo, Ludacris, do you really think it matters he worked with Ele? This is the music business, you can't fault a man's views on he feels, no matter how wrong it was, but that shouldnt stop you from working with an artist. It's not like you're becoming the best of friends, just getting together to make great music.

I think that it is a little odd, but I really don't know if will even did the track with elephant man because there are no extra lyrics on the album, like on the RnB remix. probally the producer put it on without will's knowledge or something

without will's knowledge...you aren't that gullible are you?

i can hardly understand a word he says..

That's the thing. I think a lot of the sinister undertones in dancehall music fly over most peoples heads outside Jamaica cause it's so hard to understand! :sad6:

Or maybe it was made for Jamaicans, and those of the Caribbean...and never really was expected to become that huge in America and other places that dont understand it?

You hate Ele', fine - but to go on to say you like Snoop and his character (A man who's done gangsta rap his whole life, even over those rnb styled beats that you like so much - just more weaker than before), but you know nothing of Ele's character. Alot of dancehall/reggae artist don't like gays because they feel it's sinful and wrong (Although, that doesnt justify the blatant hate). The way the express their displeasure is through music, does that mean they walk around everyday and shout "I hate gays"? Nope. Trust me, I've met Ele, they don't.

The Switch remix is just fine, but he could've done it on the Single and not as a hidden track. i think other unreleased trax would've done better as hidden trax, i.e. Chosen One

I dont hate him and i dont like him but there are a lot of other and better artist he could work with.
