However good this film could be. I just never saw it as a box office draw. Its just not rush to the cinema for that big screen experience type of film. Anyway. Get these few promo weeks out of the way and its all about JJFP tour plans

I think he did a great job in that movie. People went for that "daddy's home" crappy movie and I think "JOY" was more christmasy. I think opening up with star wars nearby is not good business.

The budget was only $35 million but that's the lowest will smith opening ever... He's pretty much thrown his movie career away lately.. I think suicide squad wIll be huge but the next "will smith movie" that comes out I don't think people will be looking for it

@Lerkot lol, I think he will get back up. This movie is certainly not for everybody. Its a good drama, my GF actually liked it and she knows nothing about football. But people who are not into football are not gonna get attracted to it. There are others who just dont want to know about this disease or problem, and then the Star Wars record setting weekends are there to not let anybody go higher than that. I totally understand why it wouldnt get higher, but I really thought will smith fans out there were gonna go and support it anyways.

The answer is simple.

Bad Boys 3 = Saving Will's Movie Career.

But lets put this in perspective. Its 2016, JJFP are on tour, Suicide squad will do really well. Things aren't all that bad in the Smith fold.

This is spot on. I don't think it's all that bad either. The movie just didn't have the widespread appeal as his other movies did. He's been an established movie star for the last 20 years. He doesn't need to make another movie again. He'll bounce back.

I never really expected this movie to do well. If Will gets some awards/nominations I think it will be worth it and I think that's what he was aiming for. Kev is right, it's all about next year for Will, I've heard so much buzz about suicide squad, I have no doubt it's going to be a huge box office hit. It's not really a "Will film" but it will ease him back in there and remind people how much they used to love him.

Well it almost made the 30 millions it took to be made, and that's only domestically, so its not such a failure. If it gets the awards, it would have been worth it.
