Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo are in early talks to join Will Smith and Jaden Smith in 1000 A.E.
M. Night Shyamalan is directing Columbia’s sci-fi action adventure, in which humans no longer live on Earth after it becomes inhospitable. The elder Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden is his son, considered a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it is up to the son to save the dad.
If deals are made, Kravitz would play Smith’s daughter, while Okonedo will portray his wife.
Gary Whitta, Shyamalan and Stephen Gaghan worked on the script.
The studio is eyeing an early 2012 production start with a release in June 2013.
Kravitz, who was last week honored with a rising star award at the Bahamas International Film Festival, appeared in X-Men: First Class as the mutant Angel Salvadore and stars in the indie drama Yelling to the Sky. Paradigm-repped Kravitz is due to shoot Fury Road, the fourth installment of the Mad Max movies, next year.
British actress Okonedo, repped by UTA, was recently seen in U.K. shows such as Doctor Who and Criminal Justice and appeared in features such as Hotel Rwanda and The Secret Life of Bees.

Will Smith Has a Great Nickname for M. Night Shyamalan

A brief few weeks into his career as a Twitterer, M. Night Shyamalan has made his account totally worthwhile. "Most family calls me 'Manoj,'" the oft-maligned director tweeted, priming us for a potential Nicki Minaj one-liner. Nay! The follow-up: "All my friends and everyone else calls me 'Night.' A few peeps call me 'M.' Will Smith calls me 'M. Neezie.'"

There you have it. We have to assume the awesome handle was somehow born via M. Neezie's upcoming Will and Jaden Smith vehicle One Thousand A.E., a film we may now consider getting excited about.

Bonus information gleaned since M. Neezie began tweeting:
-He does not understand Jaden Smith's tweets. "What the hell are you saying?! Everything is like 'I'm chillin %43#(+'"
-He is "trying to build up the courage" to helm a "microbudget," David Lynch-esque venture sans Hollywood support.
-He is surprised by his decision to begin tweeting after once neglecting his email for two years. (This tweet was directed at Ron Howard. Ron, sorry we butted our noses in.)

Dan Gross: Will & Jaden are shooting here

DON'T BE surprised if you start seeing Will Smith or his actor son, Jaden, in the area. The Overbrook- native superstar and his "Karate Kid" offspring are in town to shoot "1000 A.E.," directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

We told you in August that the Smiths had been meeting with Shyamalan about the futuristic thriller, in which Jaden plays a teen stranded on an abandoned planet and Will plays his father.

The pair previously played father and son in "The Pursuit of Happyness." The film, being guarded with typical Shyamalan secrecy, is expected to be shot around the area through April.
