Cozmo, i think we'll be on the same page with this. It's still one of LL's weakest tracks ever. The production is just 2 bad 2 keep my attention for the lyrics. LL has never slipped lyrically. It's the the weakest of the production that's been hurting his music lately.

Of course I heard the beat change. It got worse. I was actually holding out some hope on the intro. I agree with AJ, LL has not slipped, not even a little bit. He has to have the courage to resist the temptation to accept wack production just because it is the norm these days. After all, he's rich and has a fantastic acting career, which should give him the ability to defy compromise when it comes down to his first love, his music. Stand up and be true to the boom bap!

I disagree. LL's always had his own style that adapted over time. It wasn't until Exit 13 where I felt he compromised to do what was accepted on the radio. And when it comes to the real boom bap sound, i think it was left in the 90's. That agressive, raw, energy-filled sound hasn't really bled into the 2000's.

I will make you a list of at least two boom bap albums that drop every month if you want, starting this month:

Dynas - The Apartment (with production and scratches by Jazzy Jeff)

Blaq Poet - The Blaqprint (13 out of 15 tracks are produced by DJ Premier)

see you next month :prof:

lol, pretty interesting.. I think style is back and foward. For example, Jay Z varies trhough styles in all his albums. You can not compare Blue magic with Roc boys in terms of production and beats. Variety is the key.
