TNT has picked up two pilots to series, the Jada Pinkett Smith-starring medical drama "Time Heals" and Jerry Bruckheimer's cop drama pilot "The Line."

Both projects have been given 10-episode orders and are targeted for premieres later this year.

"Our new series are consistent with our belief that audiences are drawn to relatable, complex characters showcased in exciting, emotional settings and story lines," said Michael Wright, head of programming at TNT, TBS and TCM.

"Time Heals," from writer John Masius, Sony TV, 100% Womon Prods., John Masius Prods. and FanFare Prods., centers on Christina Hawthorne (Pinkett Smith), a strong but caring director of nursing at a Charlotte, N.C., hospital.

Joanna Cassidy, Laura Kenley, Tria Xiong, Christina Moore and Suleka Mathew co-star in the project, while pilot co-star Jeffrey Nordling is not expected to stay on for the series.

Masius is exec producing "Time Heals" with Pinkett Smith and Jamie Tarses.

"Line," from Warner Horizon and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, stars Dylan McDermott as the head of a squad of undercover LAPD officers who walk the line between doing their job and being seduced by easy money. Co-starring in the project are Logan Marshall-Green, Omari Hardwick and Nicki Aycox.

Doug Jung penned and Danny Cannon directed the "Line" pilot. The two are exec producing the series with Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. KristieAnne Reed is co-exec producing.

"Line" marks the first cable series for broadcast powerhouse producer Bruckheimer.

Still in contention for a series pickup at TNT is Ray Romano's drama pilot "Men of a Certain Age," which might be retooled.

Boston drama pilot "Bunker Hill" has not been delivered yet, while the fifth pilot from TNT's current development cycle, "Night and Day," is not going forward.

Will Smith: 'Jaden is a natural'

Will Smith has revealed that he always knew son Jaden would make it as an actor.

The Seven Pounds star said that his son, who appeared alongside him in 2006 drama The Pursuit of Happyness, is a natural in front of the camera.

"He just naturally has a joy, a love, for people and for emotion so it's the perfect combination to be an actor. He is so inspired to do it," he is quoted as saying.

"It worked, somehow. Jaden, he understands emotion, he's really sensitive. The business is a little scary for me with him."

Jaden, ten, is Smith's only son with second wife Jada Pinkett Smith. The couple also have daughter Willow, eight.

Jaden will play the lead in the upcoming remake of The Karate Kid.

cool little audio interview w/Jada here on NPR

they don't have an open marriage, they're not gay (she laughed at that), and it's certainly not their intention to teach scientology to anyone's kids, their school is NOT (that's how she said it) a scientology school, and of course she talks about Will a little
