Juvenile's Daughter Murdered

By Josh Grossberg

Juvenile is in mourning.

A teenage gunman shot and killed the New Orleans rapper's infant daughter Thursday along with her Sheriff's Deputy mother and older sister in their Lawrenceville, Georgia home, authorities have confirmed.

The victims--39-year-old Joy Deleston and her two daughters, 11-year-old Micaiah, and 4-year-old Jelani—were gunned down by Deleston's 17-year-old son, Anthony Tyrone Terrell. Jelani was the daughter of Juvenile.

Police discovered the bodies in the residence on Thursday and took Terrell into custody Friday, booking him on three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault after he pointed them to the location of the gun he allegedly used in the slayings. Detectives do not yet have a motive.

Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Deleston gave birth to Jelani back in 2004 and subsequently filed a paternity suit against the hip-hopster claiming he was the father. The two sides eventually settled the case amicably with Juvenile acknowledging he was the father and agreeing to pay child support.

Since Deleston was a seven-year veteran of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office who worked in its sex-crimes division, Terrell was transported to nearby Dekalb County Jail to avoid a potential conflict of interest.

Officers were first alerted to the crime after responding to 911 calls of shots being fired in the neighborhood. Upon arriving, they stumbled on a grisly crime scene with Deleston and Micaiah lying dead on the floor and Jelani's body upstairs.

"It was a tragic scene, a very horrific scene seeing small children like that being gunned down," Officer David Schiralli, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department, told the Journal-Constitution.

Terrell reportedly arrived at the house some 30 minutes after investigators made their discovery and was immediately questioned.

Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, could not be reached for comment.

The 32-year-old "Get Your Hustle On" emcee has had his own run-ins with the law, but not anything as serious as murder.

In 1999, he was busted after getting into a scuffle at a Florida mall and in 2003 he was arrested in Gwinnett County for failing to pay child support. The charges were subsequently dismissed. Two weeks ago, Juvenile was nabbed on pot possession charges while driving through Mississippi on his way to the NBA All-Star game.

Aside from her police duties, Deleston was also an aspiring actress, having appeared in three locally produced films. No word yet on funeral arrangements.
