True 'Legend' Will Smith Immortalized In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) ― Days before the release of his latest film "I Am Legend," rapper-turned-actor Will Smith sank his hands and feet into the cement in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre Monday in Hollywood.

The two-time Oscar nominee shook hands with fans and posed for photos when he arrived on Hollywood Boulevard for the ceremony that immortalized him among Hollywood's elite.

In "I Am Legend," scheduled for release Friday, the 39-year-old Philadelphia native portrays scientist Robert Neville, who finds himself alone on Earth thanks to a virus that destroys most of the world's population, except for some survivors who have become horribly mutated. Using his own immune blood, Neville tries to concoct a way to reverse the effects of the virus.

"This one is special," Smith told KCAL9 about the movie shortly after the Grauman's ceremony. "We made a really aggressive attempt at a different type of movie, so I'm anxious to see how people respond to it."

Smith first rose to prominence as rap singer The Fresh Prince, a name that later became known to television audiences when Smith starred in the comedy series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

But he quickly became box office gold thanks to starring turns in films such as "Bad Boys," "Independence Day" and "Men in Black." He earned Oscar nominations for his work in "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness," a film that also featured his son, Jaden. Smith will next appear as a down-and-out superhero in "Hancock," alongside Charlize Theron.

Tom Cruise On Will Smith: "We Share The Same Level Of Reality"

cruiseop4.jpg

Entertainment Tonight spoke exclusively to Tom Cruise today at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood where his friend Will Smith's hand and foot prints were immortalized in cement. Cruise was in attendance to show support for Smith and spoke to ET about their relationship.

"I feel honored to know him and his family. When I get around him I feel inspired. We push each other and we need that. We share that same level of reality and commitment that we have to our craft and to our family. Its fun. Wherever Will Smith is, that's where the party is!" Cruise tells ET he is even a fan of Smith's music, "He is an extraordinary artist. When I was doing Born on the 4th of July, his music got me through that picture."

On if Smith could beat his wife Katie Holmes in a marathon, Cruise laughs, "Kate is fast! I said to Will, 'she ran a marathon, we've got to see if we can't run a marathon. She did it!' The day after she ran the marathon I was at the hotel and got in the elevator drenched in sweat and I smelled... I said, 'Listen, when your wife runs a marathon, you've got to get on the treadmill the next day!'"

I forgot Jada was directing a movie (and with a spanish actress in the cast!!) but I like to see the whole smith family in these events!!!

I haven't seen the videos yet but what i've seen on TV was very nice, Will talking about how he felt and that it was weird 'coz it was new for him. I'll see the rest when I have time, thanks for posting them.

I know Tom Cruise has become a little freaky lately but I still think he is a nice person, and I like to see him supporting his good friend.
