Diddy, Jay-Z, Usher, Jada and Will Smith Among Stars Paying Last Respects to Heavy D With heavy hearts, they mourned the loss of Heavy D. Diddy, Russell Simmons, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith were among the celebrity mourners who gathered in the rapper's hometown of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. today, to bid goodbye to Big Daddy and celebrate his extraordinary life, which was unexpectedly cut short last week at the age of 44. http://uk.eonline.com/news/diddy_jay-z_usher_jada_will_smith_among/275509?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=rssfeeds&utm_campaign=rss_topstories

Estate has approached Reitman and Pollock's Montecito Picture Company Michael Jackson's estate wants to be starting something in Hollywood: a King of Pop biopic. With Dr. Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial now over, John Branca, the executor of the Jackson estate, has approached Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock's Montecito Picture Company about the possibility of producing and financing a Jackson biopic. Project would only cover certain periods of the late singer's life. Pollock confirmed that the two sides are engaged in early talks but cautioned that there is no deal in place. A spokesman for Jackson's estate had no comment. The estate is currently focused on Cirque du Soleil's "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour," so there is no rush to get the movie into production. However, the fact that the estate is keen to pay tribute to Michael on the bigscreen should have Hollywood agents salivating, as it could be a plum part for an actor. Music-themed biopics "Ray" and "Walk the Line" have provided Oscar-winning roles for Jamie Foxx and Reese Witherspoon, respectively. Should Montecito close a deal to make the movie, a Jackson biopic would showcase a different style of material than the company is known for. The shingle launched in 2000 with Todd Phillips' debut feature "Road Trip" and went on to produce successful comedies including Phillips' "Old School" and John Hamburg's "I Love You, Man." In recent years, Montecito has focused on higher-brow fare such as Jason Reitman's "Up in the Air" and Atom Egoyan's "Chloe." http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118046177

Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith Duet on Frank Ocean Hit (listen!)
Ale posted a topic in Will Smith Movies
Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith offer a glimpse of what could be a major collaboration on a future album with the release of a duet of “Thinking About You” by Frank Ocean. Bieber and Smith, the son of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, worked together on Bieber’s hit song “Never Say Never” and the video. He rapped and played himself. And how about this; Smith could also open the door for Justin to appear in one of his movies. Although he’s only 13, Smith scored a breakthrough role in the 2006 film “The Pursuit of Happyness.” He also appeared in “The Day the Earth Stood Still” with Keanu Reeves, before taking the lead in a successful remake of the 1984 movie, “The Karate Kid.” He next appears in the 2012 feature film “Amulet” based on Kazu Kibuishi’s fantasy graphic novel. Justin also just scored an impressive feat; His album of Christmas songs “Under the Mistletoe” debuted at No. 1 on the pop charts, the first for a Christmas album. Justin tweeted about the release of the duet this morning (Nov. 18). ME AND @officialjaden THINKIN BOUT YOU @Frank_Ocean COVER Check out their song below: http://www.theimprop...cean-hit-listen -

Will Smith Takes Son Jaden to the Kanye & Jay-Z Concert What an awesome dad! Will Smith and son Jaden, 13, were sitting front and center for Kanye West and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne tour, which stopped recently in Miami. The father-son duo were in a VIP section, and they sang along and really got into the music. Before the concert, the two stopped by Prime 112 Steakhouse in Miami Beach for dinner with a large group. Fans approached Jaden for pictures, and Will seemed very happy to share the spotlight with his son. Otherwise, the two spent their meal just laughing and joking. http://www.people.co...eThrone,00.html

Actor's departure comes after uproar over Ratner's gay slur at 'Tower Heist' screening Eddie Murphy has bailed out of hosting the Academy Awards a day after his producing pal Brett Ratner was shamed into leaving the show. Murphy has withdrawn as the host, according to a statement released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. “I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well,” Academy President Tom Sherak said in a statement. Late Tuesday, Ratner exited his job as executive producer of the awards ceremony after a firestorm erupted when he used a gay slur during a public screening of his film “Tower Heist” (which co-stars Murphy). He later apologized, though eventually was ousted as producer of the Oscars. “First and foremost, I want to say that I completely understand and support each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony,” Murphy said in a statement. “I was truly looking forward to being part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure the new production team and host will do an equally great job.” Ratner and Murphy were viewed as a chance to liven up the Academy Awards ceremony, which is annually the most watched entertainment special of the year. For Murphy, “Tower Heist” and the hosting gig were considered huge steps in the reemergence of his Hollywood career. Ratner is considered a Hollywood renegade, who is willing to talk about stuff others keep private. Monday he slammed former girlfriend Olivia Munn in an appearance on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show. Tuesday, as the furor grew over his gay slur, Ratner met with Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and agreed to create a series of public discussions on the use of anti-gay jokes and slurs in films and on TV. The Academy Awards are set for Feb. 26, 2012. http://www.nydailyne...ksEnabled=false

Tatyana Ali: Love That Girl! Los Angeles - You might remember Tatyana Ali from her role as Will Smith's young cousin, Ashley Banks, on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air", but she's all grown up now... and starring in her own show. Tatyana stars in TV One's top-rated show, "Love That Girl!" Tatyana got her start singing on "Sesame Street" back in 1985. Despite not going the typical Hollywood route... having taken time out for college at Harvard and a stint on Broadway (and then there's also her musical career)... she eventually ended up back in the TV biz. Tatyana describes her show a something of a reboot of the late-60s/early-70s show "That Girl." Check out the interview video for more about the show. "Love That Girl!" airs Monday nights at 5pm on TV One. Online: TV One tvoneonline.com http://www.myfoxla.c...t-girl-20111107
