  1. It has been a while since someone did one of this song appreciation threads that used to be so popular in this forum. Well, I was checking out my Born to Reign cd, which is actually one of the ones I like less from him. Last night however, was the first time I put some attention to the cd for real, and BAAM! I got surprised with this song that at first sounded so simple, and yet has so much more meaning than most of the songs playing nowadays.

The song starts with Will sounding a bit less like himself and more like Snoop or other rapper when he says:

"It's the bizzi. wizza, jizzi, Wizzil

    Bizon, wizzay, Wizzat, fizzil.

Back again but with a couple of friends

Thought my reign would end, well now I'm rubbin it in"

Tra Knox actually helped in this song (for a change) and made an acceptable chorus with Will doing the scratching Dj sound he likes to do while beat boxing.

Get us all nostalgic when he talks about the difference from movies and music for him, and how he used to hit the studio every year or so:

"A hip hop superhero, a widow, cape or a suit

Hit the studio every year or so, and escape with the loot"

"You seen me with Denzel and Russ Crowe

But yo the movies just a chick on the side I'm in love with the flow

Time off to be an Oscar nominee now

Back to the M-I-C to MC now"

And of course one of the best lines Ive seen in his songs when he finishes the verse in Ali's voice:

"And at the club, hands clappin' toes tappin'

Sucka, I'm the greatest thing ever happen to rappin'"

So if u havent heard it before, I recomend you to do it now, If you have, then do it again, and really listen to it, and maybe you will get to like it as much as I do. If we cant get anymore real rap and cool songs today, then lets start lookin back for those songs that escaped our sights sometime ago..

Here is a youtube link with the song:

    And here are the lyrics:

Check out "Maybe" from the same album. i think is pretty good too, even being romantic.

SO, What do you think about "THIS IS HOW THE BEAT GOES ON" ?

Man, I'm glad ur writing all this!

Because this song has always been my favorite on this album!

When I first bought Born To Reign while I was doing vacation in turkey How Da Beat Goes On was my favorite song right away.

I loved this track and I'm still lovin it and enjoyin it the most from this album.

  2. I've seen it two days ago, either!

I gotta say that the movie is pretty good! Now, I'm not freakin' out here because I never really was a Batman fan but everyone talked about this movie how fantastic it is and stuff like that so I had to watch it. It surprised me, I liked it, it was really good and Heath Ledger played his role as the Joker perfectly! It was definately the best thing in the movie - very unfortunate he's dead and can't play the Joker one more time, I always liked Heath but there's nothing u can do...

  3. This is a stupid idea. There's no reason 2 go back 2 this movie. It may have been a huge hit but let's be honest...the movie was average. Average movies don't need 2 sequels or prequels. And i can't see FP really being in2 the idea of doing the movie. Sounds like media garbage rather than real news. If FP is saying he's interested, it's only becuz he'd be interested if the script was actually good. Due to the way the movie was done, it would VERY hard 2 make another movie worth making. Keep in mind they say they are making a sequel 2 every Will Smith movie that comes out. And how often does that happen? He shot down the sequel 2 ID4 saying that there was no reason 4 the movie 2 happen.

    Agreed 100%!

I mean, if this is really true, then maybe the movie will be good but only maybe.

I personally think, that it's unnecessary. I Am Legend was good and it's cool this way, we don't need no pre or sequel! There's really no need to it!

  4. Finally I watched this movie, too! Together with my girlfriend and I gotta say I'm surprised!

I neva expected that movie to be that great! It's really cool, exciting, funny - everything what ur lookin' for in a Will Smith movie.

Only the end comes up too fast to me, I mean it could be a lil' longer. The movie is cool and all but nothing really much happens in there, like some opponents or somethin' like that. He doesn't really have an opponent what I expected at first. Then at first, when I saw the woman who had those powers like Hancock, either, I thought that's the opponent, she's evil or somethin'. But unfortunately she wasn't. Ok, there were those few guys who really made livin' hard for Hancock towards the end of the movie, they shot him with pistols and guns and stuff but come on, the end really could've been alot better!

All in all the movie was really great, as I said I really didn't expect it to be that good, so it was cool!

  5. I know I'm a bit late, responding from when this thread originally started lol, but I think Will is close to putting another album out. I have no source, I'm just going by shear gut and guessing. Looking at his 4 albums he has put out as an individual artist , without Jazzy Jeff (at least not full time, Jeff has since produced tracks for Will that have made cuts on his albums), he puts out an album about every 3 years, maybe 2 years, depending upon the number of roles he is set to be in, that same year. Just this year he has done a lot. Putting out a few movies with himself as one of the main characters, making appearences (Ltalk shows= Leno, appearences, award shows etc.). With all of that factored in, he still needs time, and LOTS of it to spend with his family. He wants to grow with all his children (Will is a great father in my mind), spend time and enjoy life with Jada and still have time for friends, maybe musician friends, actors/actresses, close friends etc. That's a lot! I say he puts out an album early 2009- somewhere around January- March. I'm calling it lol!

I hope u are right, my friend!

    If not...

    :P

  6. Well some people say that men have 3 things in life that make them men - sex, drugs & sports. I can confidently say that as a teenager all I thought about was sex & sports so I can clearly see where Will was coming from. Drugs & alcohol have never been an issue for me. Not much has changed for me either. Sex & sports are still pretty high on my list. LOL.

    :lolsign:  :kekeke:

    Hahahahaha, yeah that's great!

But sex is the most natural thing in the world and drugs ain't, so it's cool like that!

Rather having lots of sex than takin' drugs, haha! :lolsign:

  7. Lost and Found didn't musically achieve for me what BWS and Willenium do. Lyrically however, I agree when people say it shows how he has grown up and evolved, with the lyrics becoming more down to earth (such as the topic of 9/11 on Tell Me Why). I didn't find myself listening to all the tracks on L&F, as some I couldn't handle the beat of the song - I found it too lairy.

Musically, Big Willie Style is the blandest album if we are talking about production. Lost + Found has a solid, heavier sound. Born To Reign was different and experimentals. And Willennium had the best, most classic and timeless sound...tho' some of the mainsteam ready tracks inturuppted the flow. Big Willie Style's production is good and perfect for it's time, but there were alot of samples. They were pulled off nicely, but still, the album is mostly samples. And the over sound is straight forward. No bells, whistles, no stretching...just good beats. It's not a bad thing, but when being compared 2 the other albums, is feel that BWS is the standard, the most basic, and the blandest.

Yepp, I can agree here!

I like the album BWS but there are really a lot of samples in it but still a great album tho'! :wickedwisdom:

And what I gotta say about L&F is that it's cool and enough that he did this angry style once, chose some nice topics to rap about and being more serious, givin' some answers back to some of the other rappers who dissed him before. I like that, it was really nice but I think he did it once and that's enough. He showed people that he can be serious, too and rap with a more angry style and choose some nice topics for his lyrics but he doesn't need to do it anymore. He showed them once and that's cool - just like 'Hey guys, listen, if I want I can rap about serious things in the world and tell the truth but that's just not my style'.

  8. DAMN, you scared me, Rams. Made me think he was really freestyling to it.

    God Blessa!

Will is actually not really freestylin very often right?

Has anybody ever heard Will freestylin 4 real?

Cuz' I've neva heard him do that...

I'm sorry but I've gotta say this to you..

WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? :stickpoke:

Go buy Willenium and check track 8..its called "So Fresh" damn dude lol

    Haha, yeah, thanks!

I know that but I meant in a show on tv or somethin'... :D

    @Ale: Thanks again!!! :thumbsup:

  9. I don't know about the unreleased stuff.. right now i just want a brand new album to bump. i just listened to Lost and Found and now i want more!

I'd love to have an album with some unreleased material and some good remixes thrown in their, but like AJ said exclusively for the hardcore fans.. like us haha.

Yeah, if it's really some new songs that we neva heard before then it'd be cool cuz that'd be somethin like a new album, either. ;)

  10. LOLOL.. that is soo crazy. thank you for this. I hope u don't mind but imma share this with some friends in Naija...

  11. What do you think about hamsters?

Hahahaha, my mother is soooo scared of them, she always says they're mice!

I always answer 'No mum, that's why they're called hamsters' and she's like 'But they look like mice to me, I don't like them, they're ugly and disgusting'!
