I recently had a chance to add something really dope to my collection. I'm hoping its one of the original tapes that were sent out in the late 90s and not a reproduction, but either way its a nice piece to own. Listened to this mixtape countless times, might be my favorite of his too.

I didn't expect anything further to come of this.  Since Will came at a comedian, he needs to stay clear of that field for awhile.

Wow, I never saw this either. I watched Martin religiously, until the third or fourth season.  This must have aired during the season where I started missing episodes.

‘Bad Boys’ Director Says Sony “Had No Faith” In The Film’s Success With Two Black Stars
Keenan "HIGz" Higgins   Even though Will Smith is going through a career crisis of sorts for infamously slapping fellow veteran actor Chris Rock at this year’s Academy Awards, there’s no denying his existing roster of hit leading roles in Hollywood. For many, the standout of those is his third-ever feature film, Bad Boys, which co-stars comedic legend Martin Lawrence.
Over 25 years and two successful sequels later, with a fourth currently in pre-production, director Michael Bay says the $840 million franchise’s longtime distributor Sony Pictures originally didn’t think it would even be a success with two Black actors in the lead roles.
While promoting his new film Ambulance, Bay spoke to Entertainment Weekly briefly about his directorial debut with Bad Boys. He was asked about his now-signature “hero shot” that dramatically circles the characters at a prominent climax in the movie. Bay said Bad Boys is where it started, and the inspiration was fueled by Sony’s doubt and disrespect for them during principal photography. “Sony didn’t believe in the movie, because two Black actors don’t sell overseas,” he said of their apprehensions, going to add, “And they shut me down, literally. They shut the power off. That’s how rude they were on this movie.” Take a look below at how one shot and a determination to prove Sony wrong led Michael Bay to success with Bad Boys and one of the most imitated cinematic scenes in action film history, via EW:
“So I remember we’re driving our van. The line producer, he didn’t like me. I don’t think he liked anybody. I said, ‘Stop the car! Stop the van.’ And he’s coming up to me, the line producer, saying, ‘What are you doing, Michael? We don’t have time for this.’ I’m like, ‘This is going to be the trailer shot.’ For some reason, I just came up with this shot as we’re driving. And I said, ‘Where’s the circle trolley? Get the circle trolley.’ And we made this round move and you guys rise up and it became a very famous shot. People try to imitate it, but it was a seminal moment. ‘Bad Boys’ literally changed the game on Black actors. It’s the first movie that really traveled overseas.”
As we now know, Bad Boys would go on to make $141.4 million at the box office on a $19 million budget and solidify both Smith and Lawrence as certified Black leading males in Hollywood. We bet Sony is glad they didn’t go with their initial bias!

Yeah, I want new music to be a tightly contained project.  I'm not saying his family isn't musically talented. Obviously they are, but I have no desire to hear them on a new album.

I think the reason for this is that Will's actions are directly related to the Oscars.  They want to save face.   The dealings of those other people, while vile and long term, aren't directly related to the Oscars. No one is associating their behavior with the Oscars like they are Will's.  That's just my guess at reasoning.

I looked at twitter to see what peoples thoughts are on it. And most people are saying it’s unfair he’s been banned yet they haven’t banned people like Roman Polanski, Woody Allen and Harvey Weinstein. And they have a fair point.

Yeah, do something that's fun.  Something that we'll want to watch over and over again.  Don't get me wrong, I love Ali and King Richard, but I watch them ever couple years. Movies like Bad Boys, Hitch, Men In Black, Enemy of the State, ID4, etc....I can watch them frequently.
On another note, it would be kinda gangsta to put out a movie or two during this time that would result in him being nominated even if he can't be there.  At the same, would will he have a prejudice against him for being nominated or winning because of all this?

Honestly, the movies he had in production are in Limbo right now. I don't think he'll be able to pick up the Hollywood pieces for awhile.

Will, Brother, use this time to find yourself again, because you've clearly lost something along the way. Get your mind right...Then maybe vent on some beats from Jeff and put that out in the time being. Go back to your roots.

Yoooo, this article is actually quite sad.  It's the opinion of comedian Earthquake.  It makes you think.  I don't recall any actions from Jada in the past decade that I'd translate to real love and affection. If anyone should be mad at Will, it should be comedians, but Earthquake is showing nothing but love for Will and seems to be talking a lot of sense.

Comedian Earthquake Says Jada Pinkett Doesn’t Love Will Smith, Has Done Nothing To Protect Him And Only Embarrasses Him
    By
Samuel-Clement Comedian Earthquake has also shared his two cents on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars and according to him, Will Smith loves Jada but she, on the other hand, doesn’t love him. That’s sad!   Earthquake says Jada Pinkett should have stopped Will Smith from walking up the stage to slap Chris Rock for joking about a woman who doesn’t love him as he does via Yahoo Entertainment; Can you find any?
Flip to the next page to watch the interview where he tells Smith he needs to either move on or accept Jada for who she is.

It's unlikely they'll take the Oscar away.  Whoopi Goldberg is on the board, and within a couple days of the incident, she said they weren't going to.

Oh, wow. This is definitely not a polished and presentable moment.  There are a lot of memes, YouTube videos, and articles coming out that are focusing on Jada in the second phase of all this.  I don't want to pin the negativity on her, because none of us know her personally.   The media likes to speak negatively about strong women.  Especially strong, black women.  They jump to conclusions about women who don't try to be "America's sweetheart".  It's worth pointing out that none of those who know her personally are saying bad things about her, at least not that I've seen.
I remember watching an entertainment show back when Bad Boys first came out.  The media's angle on Will and Jada showing that they were together was taking the angle that she was the "bad girl" that seemed a misfit for him.  Then they turned into a power couple and everyone loved them. It seems like this "redefining" of their relationship is accommodating Jada, where as much of their relationship before this was accommodating Will.  Ultimately everyone should be happy.  If that's them, good.  If it's not and this "redefining" an upgrade for both of them, it's time to take steps where they can be happy and completely themselves.

The idea of him being canceled is laughable.  Let's be honest, what artists have truly been canceled. Some of them have taken a hit in their status, but virtually no one has been completely pushed out of the limelight.  The reason this is so big is because Will is one of the biggest entertainers in the world and he fell hard one on of the biggest stages in the world. There are those with an emotional connection to it and those simply trying to ride the coattails of it.  We know Will's character.  Most entertainers are condemning the slap while clarifying that they have no ill will for him because we all know his true character.

Honestly, as much as i hate the situation, the memes are pretty funny.
But yeah, the media need to take it easy now, they are interviewing every celebrity about it to try and get another headline. I'm disappointed in some celebrity takes on it. Amy schumer said it was really upsetting to see Will slap Chris Rock, then ive seen another story saying one of her jokes about the Alec Baldwin shooting accident wasn't allowed. Why does she think a joke about someone getting killed can be ok?
Anyway, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Will made a mistake, we all make mistakes, let it go.

The event has been covered so much at this point that I think a lot of people are getting sick of it.  I think the media will start to slowly let go until the Red Table Talk or some other related event involving Will or Chris occurs. If you scour YouTube, you'll find much more diverse opinions that place blame here and there.  Jada is taking heat in a lot of it.  That memes are still coming. Occasionally I feel guilty for finding some of them kind of funny.  I was randomly looking at items on ebay and there's quite a few shirts with memes and pictures of the slap on it. I think that once we REALLY hear from Will and Chris, it will truly start to taper off with a sense of closure.

It's expected that within a week of an unusual event like this, Will's projects would be scrutinized by some.  Movies experience various delays all the time. I don't expect anything to really change.  A lot of movies take a year to come out.  A year from now nobody is going to be shocked by this and the dust will have settle. I expect Will's reputation and position will mostly be restored.  It's all business and media play at the moment.
