  1. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THE NEWS ABOUT THE RECENT DEATH OF ONE OF THE BEST DJ'S ON EARTH HAS THROWN THE MUSIC AND DJ COMMUNITY INTO SHOCK. I KNEW RAIDA FOR A LONG TIME. MET HIM BACK IN 1990 BEFORE HE WAS GRANDMASTER ROC RAIDA. HE WAS A COOL AND FUNNY BROTHER AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO SEE HIM COMING FROM BEING A NORMAL STREET KID TO A WORLD CHAMP DJ. GOD BLESS U RAIDA. YOU TRULY SHINED!!!! YOU WILL BE SORELY MISSED!!!

  2. WELL I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS A PLEASURE TO MEET JIM AND HIS GIRLFRIEND THAT EVENING. THEY ARE SUCH A CUTE COUPLE AND IT WAS AN HONOR TO HANG AROUND THEM. SEPT 12TH WILL BE ETECHED IN STONE AS ONE OF MY FAVORITE NIGHTS. ESPECIALLY BEING SANDWICHED BETWEEN 2 TRAGIC DAYS(SEPT 11-9/11 AND SEPT 13-TUPAC PASSING AWAY)BIG UP TO JIM,HIS GIRLFRIEND,STACEY,DARNELL,MIKE NYCE,JEFF AND YAMEEN ALL WORLD.

IT WAS GOOD TO SEE CORY(JEFF'S SON)IN THE CLUB WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND.IT WAS A FUN FILLED NITE AND FLUID IS TRULY ONE OF MY FAVORITE CLUBS TO GO TO.THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO LAUGH AT IS THE PIC JIM PUT ON THE PAGE WITH HIM AND I. I LIKED THE FIRST PIC WE TOOK TOGETHER. THE ONE THATS UP, I LOOK REAL"GAY"-LMAO. NO OFFENSE BUT CALLING HOW I LOOK IN THE PIC.LOL

  3. SEE GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE. YOU GUYS SO DESERVED SUCH AN EXPERIENCE.

YOU GUYS ARE BETTER THAN ME BECAUSE I THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN AT A LOSS FOR WORDS WITH MY MOUTH OPEN AND NOTHING COMING OUT OF IT TO MEET JEFF,DARNELL AND SKILLS-LOL.

THATS AN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LAST YOU A LIFETIME AND I HOPE YOU GUYS GET TO MEET HIM AND THE CREW AGAIN. :2thumbs:

  4. I FEEL THAT IT IS DEFINITELY IN THE TOP 5 OF THEIR BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME-THE PRODUCTION VALUE IS ON POINT-THE USE OF "SUMMER MADNESS" BY KOOL & THE GANG GIVES AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO REALLY SAMPLE AND FREAK A TRACK TO WHERE IT BECOMES TIMELESS.

ANYTIME THAT A RECORD ,WHEN IT COMES ON,CAN MAKE U THINK OF A PARTICULAR TIME ,MOMENT OR SEASON,THAT ALONE GETS A THUMBS UP FROM ME. IT EXPRESSES HAVING A FUN TIME AND HANGING AROUND YOUR FRIENDS AND GOING GIRL WATCHING WHILE WALKING DOWN THE STREET OR DRIVING IN YOUR CAR.

SUMMERTIME WOULD NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT HEARING THIS CLASSIC JAZZY JEFF & FRESH PRINCE SONG. SUMMERTIME WOULD BE NO.2 ON MY LIST BUT BRAND NEW FUNK STILL RATES NO.1 WITH ME AS FAR AS MY FAVORITE JEFF & PRINCE TRACK.

  5. THE SONG"THE BITCHES" :switch: IS BY JERU THE DAMAGA

AS FAR AS HIS GIGS AT THE APT-LIKE MY BUDDY HERO1-HE DOES THEM EITHER EVERY MONTH OR EVERY 2 MONTHS (IF HE IS NOT ON THE ROAD TOURING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY).BUT WE WILL POST UP HIS NEXT APPEARENCES AT THE APT ON HERE OR YOU CAN CHECK JEFF'S WEBSITE UNDER THE EVENTS SECTION.WWW.DJJAZZYJEFF.COM

  6. OK YA'LL-SORRY ABOUT GETTING BACK SO LATE BUT HERE IS THE REPORT FROM THE ALBUM RELEASE PARTY. WELL AS NORMAL,JEFF DID HIS THING AND SPUN SOME CLASSICS AND PLAYED TO A NICE PACKED CROWD. D.J. SAT ONE (OF THE SKRATCH MECKANIKS)OPENED UP FOR HIM AND HELD IT DOWN WITH SOME COOL TUNES AND SOME FUNKY SCRATCHES AND RUBS.

JEFF SHOWED UP A LIL AFTER 12:OOA.M. WITH HIS CREW IN TOW(BIG UP TO IRIZE AND DONNELL). HE HIT THE SET AND FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS PLUS HE GAVE THE CROWD A GOOD SET WHERE HE SCRATCHED AND ADDED MORE TURNTABLE WIZARDRY THAT THE MAGNIFICENT CAN DO!!!

I ACTUALLY GOT A CHANCE TO SEE AN OLD DJ FRIEND OF MINE THERE AS WELL NAMED DIAMOND(FORMERLY DIAMOND J/EPMD'S FIRST D.J. AND USED TO D.J. FOR PRINCE). ALSO IN THE HOUSE WAS KEITH MURRAY AND MY HOMEBOY DJ STEVE DEE.

  7. Monday, October 16

    Magnificent Mondays

DJ Jazzy Jeff celebrates the release of his new cd Hip Hop Forever III (out now on Raster/BBE) tonight in the Meatpacking District.

    APT,

    419 W. 13th St.

    (betw. 9th Ave. & Washington St.), 212-414-4245; 10-late, $12. www.aptwebsite.com.

YOU KNOW I WILL DEFINTELY BE IN THE PLACE AND WILL GIVE YOU GUYS A REPORT OF WHAT WENT DOWN AS WELL AS GUEST STARS FOR SURE!!!!

  8. :2thumbs: MAN I FEEL HIM ON THAT-BEINGA D.J. I HAVE TO PLAY WHATIS ON THE RADIO FOR THE AUDIENCE THAT I DEAL WITH BUT DAM I WISH THEY COULD BE MORE OPEN-MINDED ABOUT MUSIC. THERE IS SO MANY TALENTED ARTSISTS WITH SOME SERIOUS MATERIAL OUT THERE BUT THE BIG COMPANIES ARE ON THE "BANDWAGON" IDEAL. WHATEVER IS HOT-MAKE DUPLICATES AND MASS PRODUCE IT WHICH ENDS UP SATURATING THE MUSIC SCENE!!!!

I THANK JEFF FOR PLAYING HOW HE PLAYS WHENEVER I GET TO SEE HIM HIT THE TURNTABLES. IT IS HIM AND OTHER DJ'S LIKE HIM THAT KEEP ME GOING. I HOPE ONE DAY THINGS WILL GET BETTER AS FARAS BEING MORE ORIGINAL AND DIVERSE WITH THE MUSIC SCENE!!!!

  9. WITHOUT QUESTION FOR ME IS THE "PUMP ME UP" CUT ON THE WILLIENIUM ALBUM. AFTER HEARING THAT, I WAS SAYING TO MYSELF-"HE'S BAACCCK"!!!!

JEFF KILLED IT ON THAT TRACK AND HE NEEDS TO DO MORE TRACKS LIKE THAST ON FUTURE PROJECTS TO LET THESE YOUNG DJ'S KNOW-TO QUOTE RAKIM-

"THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE"!!!!

    :afro:

  10. I KIND OF DISAGREE WITH THAST STATEMENT- THOUGH I HAVE MAD LOVE AND RESPECT FOR GRANDMASTER FLASH- HE IS OVERRATED- I CAN SAY THAT BECAUSE I HAVE SEN HIM DJ AND TRUST- JEFF IS FAR BETTER. HECK I CAN NAME A FEW MORE DJ'S(EVEN DURING THE OLD SCHOOL ERA)-THAT WERE BETTER THAN FLASH, BUT FLASH GOT THE PRESTIGE FOR WHAT HE BRUNG TO THE DJ GAME AND THE STUFF HE PIONEERED.

IM A DJ AND I SEEN THE BEST AND NOT SO GOOD. THIS IS NOT A DISRESPECT TOWARDS FLASH BUT AN OPINION OF ONE WHO HAS SEEN HIM LIVE ONE TIME OR ANOTHER.

    PEACE YA'LL
