  1. Jim I think the best tracks he did over the last few years was the freestyle which was a few years old, the Will remix and Freak accident. I think one of the producers who worked with him didn't like the new stuff he was doing either and said he wanted more Big Willie Style era - would have loved to hear that track. I don't think we need to hear anything like Get Lit but I bet he has some good tracks he has just never released.

  2. The Academy just released a statement:

    Quote

The Board of Governors today initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, including inappropriate physical contact, abusive or threatening behavior, and compromising the integrity of the Academy.

Consistent with the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, as well as California law, Mr. Smith is being provided at least 15 days’ notice of a vote regarding his violations and sanctions and the opportunity to be heard beforehand by means of a written response. At the next board meeting on April 18, the Academy may take any disciplinary action, which may include suspension, expulsion, or other sanctions permitted by the Bylaws and Standards of Conduct.

Mr. Smith’s actions at the 94th Oscars were a deeply shocking, traumatic event to witness in-person and on television. Mr. Rock, we apologize to you for what you experienced on our stage and thank you for your resilience in that moment. We also apologize to our nominees, guests and viewers for what transpired during what should have been a celebratory event.

Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.

The fact that Will was asked to leave and refused is very bad. I have a feeling he is going to be expelled from the Academy and this could signal the end of Will's movie career. How many people in Hollywood would want to work with him now?

  3. I think I kind of agree with both @DefCEM and @JumpinJack AJ on this. One, I think it could be some excellent therapy for Will to go into the studio and get his thoughts out. I do also agree, and maybe you haven't been following it closely enough but this isn't an isolated incident from Will - he's lost his discipline - have a look at Will's fitness TV show where he basically quit, read the last couple of chapters of Will's book, I definitely think he is on some kind of spiral and that is what ended in the slap. So @Lerkot

as an isolated incident maybe it isn't a big deal but if you step back and look at the big picture Will has gone from an extremely disciplined person to someone who looks like he is crying out for help and confused.

  4. Hey man - it may be a difference between US sales and overseas sales. Also the records shipped number VS units sold is differnt as well - Also when he refers to 60 million records sold that may include singles sales as well. From what I understand if you add up just the albums JJFP is about 6 million, then BWS would be 12 + willenium which I think is 5 and then adding in the others I think just album sales Will + JJFP I thought was about 30-32 million officially. So there is definitely a wide margin between what we know and what Will is talking about.

  5. Hey man - great to hear from you! I think the "Will" book is phenomenal - I wish more people came back to the forum because there is so much in the book to discuss. He really goes in deep on becoming a battle rapper and the making of the Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince albums.

You probably misses some music he dropped on his Instagram & YouTube. Will from Home was on Snapchat - there is an interview with Jeff on that after he almost died from Covid.

There's still heaps of things going on - just less people on here to talk about it unfortunately. Hopefully the book brings some people back!

  6. Great idea. Here are a few things I’ve found. fascinating in the book.

    - Jeff having cancer as a teenager - I never knew this.

    - JL becoming their manager because he had a fax machine.

    - Will’s version of why they got rid of Ready Rock C

    - I loved the way Will described him becoming a battle rapper in Philly.

    - his first girlfriend cheating on him. You can hear the pain as he recounts that part of his life.
