Will Smith Biography

Will Smith began his career while he was still in high school. He rapped regularly at house parties in West Philly and one day he ran into Jeff Townes. Jeff was a well known DJ from the area and that night his emcee didn't show up. Will took the mic and jumped on stage and the chemistry was instant. Will and Jeff began performing at house parties in the area. Will had not even finished high school when he released his first single "Girls Ain't Nothing but Trouble." The single was a huge success and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince released their first album "Rock the House" in 1987. The album went Gold. Will and Jeff's muwsical partnership went from strength to strength. Their 2nd album "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper" went double platinum.

After the duo's 3rd album together "And in this Corner" Will met Quincy Jones and Benny Medina and was soon enlisted to star in his own TV show "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air." The TV show was a huge success. He brought along DJ Jazzy Jeff for the ride who played Will's best friend "Jazz" on the show. Even though he had found TV fame he continued to make music released the hip-hop classic "Summertime" in 1991 and then a 5th Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince album in 1993, "Code Red."

In 1993 he also starred in an independent film called "Six Degrees of Seperation." The role was a huge departure from "the fresh prince" but he garnered critical acclaim for playing a gay con man. He continued to delve into films starring in the worldwide smash "Bad Boys" in 1995. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air wrapped up after si8x seasons in 1996. Will would then have a string of box office hits starting with Indpendence Day.

In 1997 he dominated the entertainment arena starring in Men In Black one of the highest grossing films of all time, releasing a new rap record "Big Willie Style" which was one of the highest selling rap albums of all time. Will released 3 more albums since then and has starred in box office hit after box office hit. He released 7 straight films that grossed over 100 million in the years that followed. He was nominated for an Oscar twice for his roles in Ali and Pursuit of Happyness.

He is now the biggest movie star in the world. He owns his own production company "Overbrook entertainment" and develops his own scripts to star in. He is happily married to Jada Pinkett Smith and has three children Trey, Willow and Jaden.
