Kaiser Chiefs

English band KAISER CHIEFS were shocked by their fellow performers at the US leg of the Live 8 charity gigs last summer (02JUL05), because so many of the artists didn't care about poverty.

The I PREDICT A RIOT rockers opened the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania gig, which ran alongside shows in London, Paris, South Africa, Rome, Berlin, Canada, Tokyo, Moscow and Cornwall, England.

Kaiser Chiefs joined predominately US acts on stage at the city's Museum Of Art, including ALICIA KEYS, BON JOVI, KANYE WEST, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, DESTINY'S CHILD, SHAWN 'JAY-Z' CARTER, SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS and the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND.

While the Kaiser Chiefs were hopeful the gig would raise awareness of poverty in the developing world, they were stunned by artists who displayed their vast wealth at the gig in the form of jewels and huge entourages, demonstrating the momentous occasion was 'just another gig'.

Guitarist ANDREW 'WHITEY' WHITE says, "It was funny watching the Americans do charity. They roll in with the 'bling' and stuff, do the gig, do the press and get out.

"It was obvious not everyone was into it."

Drummer NICK HODGSON adds, "The crowd preferred WILL SMITH."

Yeah, especially with hip-hop artists, they don't give a good effort in their performances, they just have 10 people yelling in the background and it sounds like complete crap.
