There's at least 3 or 4 other songs I'd rather see as single...like "Keep Your Head Up." The article sounds like the album is huge but "Hold My Hand" didn't blow up like crazy here in the US. The album has been quiet and still since that single dropped.

New Michael Jackson Singles Coming From The Global #1 Album "Michael"

Album Already Achieves Platinum Status in 17 Countries Worldwide

New York, NY – In the coming weeks, the Estate and Sony Music will be releasing "Hollywood Tonight" and "Behind the Mask" from the global hit album MICHAEL. "Behind The Mask" will be released as the radio single in countries including the United States, Canada, Japan and France. "Hollywood Tonight" will be the single released to radio in the rest of the world and videos for both songs will be released worldwide. Each Sony Music affiliate will also release more information on the plans in their respective territories.

Both "Behind The Mask" and "Hollywood Tonight" are fan and critical favorites from MICHAEL – the unique collection of Michael Jackson songs completed posthumously and released in December by Sony and his Estate. The album includes material Michael had been working on for future release prior to his passing along with other vintage work he planned to place on future albums. Joe Vogel, author of the upcoming book Man in the Music: The Creative Life and Work of Michael Jackson, wrote that while "Posthumous works are notoriously tricky…This, ultimately, is the most important quality of Michael: it feels like Michael."

"Behind the Mask," which was recently completed by John McClain and Jon Nettlesbey, is praised by critics for infusing the spirit of Michael's music from the past. Rolling Stone called it "a fiercely funky cousin to "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" The song is written by Michael Jackson, Chris Mosdell and Ryuichi Sakamoto and produced by Michael Jackson, John McClain and Jon Nettlesbey. The song's recognizable hook is a sample of "Behind The Mask" as performed by Ryuichi Sakamoto's Yellow Magic Orchestra. And "Hollywood Tonight", which USA TODAY said "pulsates with Billie Jean-esque energy, was written during the time of the Invincible album. In 2007, Michael pulled the track out of the archives to work on the song with producer Theron "Neff-U" Feemster. "Hollywood Tonight" was written by Michael Jackson and Brad Buxer and the track was produced by Teddy Riley, Michael Jackson with co-producer by Theron "Neff-U" Feemster. Ellen DeGeneres debuted and danced to the song with her audience during her popular talk show.

MICHAEL was the #1 global album upon its release in December and has shipped over 3 million units worldwide making it one of the biggest albums of 2010. The album's nonstop success continues to underscore Michael's importance to his fans as a global icon and superstar, and shows how his music continues to transcend cultures and languages. The platinum status for MICHAEL has now grown to 17 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France (2x), Italy (2x), Spain, Denmark, Poland, Russia(2x), Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic (5x), Canada, India (2x), China, Taiwan, Korea and the Middle East. Michael is now Gold in 18 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

MICHAEL marks another release under the new agreement between The Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music announced in March 2010 that continues the label's 35-year relationship with Michael and his music. During that time, Michael sold hundreds of millions of records, had 13 #1 singles and released the pop culture phenomenon "Thriller," which remains music's all-time bestselling album with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.

I don't dislike those songs, I just think "Hollywood Tonight" sounds way too dated. It sounds like the early 90's too much for me to see it getting much success. "Behind The Mask" just sounds over produced. To be honest, I think those songs are probably the weakest songs on the album.

Keep Your Head Up, (I Like) The Way You Love Me, Monster, are Best Of Joy, are the highlights of the album to me. I think they'd be better choices. MJ's last HUGE hit was "You Are Not Alone" and I think it's important to put out on of his classic love songs instead of only the upbeat/dance songs.

I think both of those single were great but they barely got appropriate attention. I thought the One More Chance video was weird tho.' You hardly see MJ from the front at all. I thought it was a double until I saw the first face shot. I'm only kinda convinced it wasn't a double now...lol.

They realy both got a lot of tv and radio time here and the both went Top 10 at least. Maybe it was diffrent here. One More Chance was realy great but I'm not a big fand of the doctored version of Hold My Hand. I'm glad I still have the original on my computer because it is much, much better.

I agree 100%...any chance you could shoot it my way?

The US just didn't support him after those allegations. The US was just plain evil to him. I don't blame him for leaving the US for so many years and staying under the radar.

I think they are doing to MJ what they did to Will as far as poor promotion. I know obviously its a lot more difficult with MJ no longer with us but there was hardly any radio airplay and i think i saw the video on tv once, bcoz of that the single and album fell out of the charts over here pretty fast. They have taken too long releasing the second single.

The problem is its not Billie Jean or thriller so people dont give a crap but whatever song they release, its far better than anything else in the chart and Michael didnt even finish them off properly.

I saw this news and couldnt help but remember we heard that Will recorded a track with Michael for his invincible album. Im probably clutching at straws here but there may be a tiny chance this comes out.

R & B producer Fred Jerkins III plans to release new Michael Jackson songs

Michael Jackson collaborator Fred Jerkins III revealed that he plans to issue fresh material from the megastar while visiting Midland music students.

The influential R & B producer Fred Jerkins III, who worked with the troubled pop performer on his final 2001 album Invincible, led a masterclass at Access to Music in Digbeth on Thursday.

The co-writer of hits like You Rock My World, Jerkins made a big impression as he was whisked in to the specialist pop and rock college in Heath Mill Lane to answer questions from youngsters who are hoping to make their way in the music business.

And he said that he has plans to issue some unpublished material by tragic Jackson, who died four years ago aged 50.

“We have a number of unreleased songs and all sorts of video footage,” he said.

“There’s a project in the making right now that will include all those songs.”

Jerkins also sought to dispel the ‘Wacko Jacko’ stereotype saying that Jackson was a charming gentleman.

“I worked with him for two years exclusively – it’s the biggest highlight of my career,” said Jerkins, who works with his brother Rodney under the name Darkchild.

“He came to our studios in Pleasantville, New Jersey [the city where Jerkins grew up] and we built a really strong relationship and became really good friends.

“I remember him, just for fun, riding on a three-wheel bike in the parking lot that belonged to someone with disabilities.

“He was really relaxed. It’s things like that that you wouldn’t expect from Michael Jackson.

“We were comfortable with him as a family and my son had his fifth birthday at Neverland.”

Darkchild has also masterminded tracks for Beyonce, the Spice Girls, Will Smith and Lionel Richie.

Jerkins also recalled ‘hanging out’ with Whitney Houston, for whom he co-wrote tracks such as It’s Not Right (But It’s Okay).

“She’s been to our church singing,” he said of the vocal legend’s gospel roots, which included a stint at his pastor father Fred’s Evangelical Fellowship Church in Pleasantville.

“It’s very difficult when you see people like Michael and Whitney passing on because we had a close relationship with both of them.”

Fred, who is about to work on tracks for Usher and Rihanna, advised students to spend time honing their skills rather than expecting the kind of instant, but fleeting, chart domination enjoyed by winners of TV talent shows like The X Factor.

“An event like this is to inspire and educate people, and let them know what they can do,” he said.

“A lot of people pursue music and expect success to come real fast, but you have to stay at it. Winners of these talent shows need to sell records and to continue to sell for lots of years, after gaining that sort of platform in the first place.

“I come from an area where there was no music scene – it wasn’t like living in New York or Los Angeles,” said Jerkins, who plays piano, drums, bass and trumpet.

“When we broke into the music business it was just us.

“But so many people have broken in from there following in our footsteps, and told us ‘if it wasn’t for you guys, we wouldn’t have thought of making it’.”

Toby Smith, director of education at the college said: “This is marvellous to have such a big name in the music industry come to this region and support the music industry locally.”
