  1. I have to agree... I find that the greatness of JJFP is really... well "He's the DJ, 'Im the rapper" - in that order. Any track JJ produced is simply like 75% better than anything Will does with anyone else. I remember that when we were looking forward to Lost & Found we said, "I hope and believe there will be a lot of Jazzy". Didnt happen. "I hope the next album will be pure JJFP". Didnt happen. And I seriously believe as well that after this album, it's pretty likely it will go another ten years before Will release any new music. This is why I even put a question mark over that "World Tour" - it could very well be that he travels around in a few capitals, dragging Jeff along, promoting Bad Boys III rather than actually touring... The only acceptable scenario for a new Will album would be that at least half of the tracks was produced by Jeff. Not that Lost & Found in any manner was useless, but I've played that album maybe not even a tenth of the times I've played the JJFP ones. In all of this, I say okey, they might have some scheduling conflicts or whatever, but Jeff the last couple of years has said that he is ready to do it, ready to hit it with Will anytime, and the fcker just goes "nopes - I wanna work with the younger buddies. The up and comings. The fast & famous of today". And what really just hits me is the repeated feeling of "what. is. your. problem. Will?" Okey if he was some old school artist in dire need of success and financial issues or whatever - then maybe it would have been understandable to go with someone that kids of today recognize and stalk around the Internet. But now, when he surely must know that he wont sell ten million albums and doesnt even need to, why not just go for quality? Why not just create something very good that people will remember and feel great when they hear it? Why even try to compete with the current retarded hiphop scene? But yeah I'm guessing we will see maybe one track where Jeff does some scratching. Maybe he'll put it in between some of the eight tracks that will include his musically inept children. Maybe the scratching will be done on the track which also features Vanilla Ice, 50 Cent and Snoop Lion. Or maybe Jeff will get do a couple of cuts on one of the tracks produced by "Random-producer-that-you-wont-hear-about-ever-again-once-the-album-is-out." I know, I know, I am the voice of pessimism... but I've been proven right before, havent I...
  2. The song is horrible in every possible way. Will's rap is ok I guess but doesnt really fit the song. Nice to hear something but I surely hope this is not even close to the sound we'll be hearing on the new album...
  3. How come a lot of old-school JJFP cats expresses worries of the state of hiphop today, about excessive violence, cursing and bad influence only to be totally engulfed once its about artists from their "favorite era" or whatever? How can there be such an interest in this movie and the albums that obviously will be surrounding it when the consequences of the early 90's gangster culture is clearly evident in the rise of the crack epidemic you got going over there, and the rise of the mentality that freedom and justice will be created through poor people fighting against other poor people? The LAPD obviously can go f*ck themselves for a variety of reasons but the concerns are real. As known, the "establishment" comes in few colours and definitely not in black no matter how many Obama's you put in paper tiger positions. Behind every release made by Hollywood or some of the giant multi-national record companies there is politics & the shaping of society. Maintaining and romanticising this kind of gangster culture is nothing short of paying people in booze like back in the early industrial days: its not about the pleasure of the people. Its about the numbness of the people. How many is capable of fighting for justice, equality and improvment while on crack feeding yourself with self-destructive instructions from some opportunist money-maker-gangster? No-one. I think its crap. Yet again another generation of kids will be fooled into believing their problems either cant be solved, or only can be solved by creating a violent distance to your neighboors. Once again kids who could have a great future, demand change and create harmonic societies gets fooled into drugs, gang life and petty crime as the way out of poverty and repression. What you can learn from history is that what helps people won't be televised even if seemingly the intentions are good, the psychological societal effects are on an intriguing, ideological level that we dont understand and that can only do harm.
  4. When was the last time you all listened to Pump Ya Brakes? Yeah. No collaborations please.
  5. Having a look at the Homebase wiki entry history. Before, "Lets Party" was listed at the same page as "US Hidden Track" but unfortunately it all seems to be fake. Same user IP who in 2008 added "Lets Party" to the tracklisting also added songs called "We Out" and "DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince 4EVER" to the Code Red tracklisting. Im pretty sure it doesnt exist.
  6. It is fake unless Def Jam couldn't afford Photoshop and made the tracklisting in Paint.
  7. Edit: Failed to provide my personal comment on the list - "zzz". 8. I think in due time we will see another Will Smith or, maybe in the utopian world, JJFP album, definitely. It seems he got tired of the whole "the biggest, richest, most loved and famous entertainment personality"-thing and that the end of this ultra-commercial phase makes it possible for him to do things he actually like rather than what seems like a good career move. A second coming of Will-music followed by a second coming of Will-movies wouldnt be surprising; a lot of both actors and musicians have this lacklustre period where the heyday era gets followed by some fame/money collecting before returning to its roots. Of course the album probably wont be perfect. If not at least half the album is produced by JJ, then FP can go f*ck himself. And I expect to see little bit of Kanye or similar, but if it gets flooded by these modern rappers, then FP can go f*ck himself. And of course he will drag the whole family into the album, but if its main purpose is some hidden promotion of Jaden/Willow then FP can go... well, you know. Anyway hope it will happen soon and that FP keeps up what began with Lost & Found, namely a more mature yet still positive vibe. Your time bomb society needs it possibly even more than in 2005..
  9. This was the interview after the Nokia Urban Festival concert, right? The one that was... the best ever, and that seems forever lost.
  10. Its really sad. He seemed to be one of the most down to earth and human actors around... I remember I read an article a couple of months ago where Will was saying how James Avery teached him a lot about being more humble about both his profession and himself, and that he had made a lot of really bad calls before FPoBA. I think Will really has a lot to thank this man for, he was a really good actor and seemed to be a really nice man as well.
  11. If they dont use Willow, they will use Jaden with long hair
  12. It's a bit weird though because its kind of like they didnt want it to work. The "Party Starter" video was released like... four months later than it should have been, despite the success of Switch... Maybe there are people in Will's surroundings who gain more money when he makes movies than albums, and that didnt want him to succeed. I dunno.
  13. They might break up, they might not, they might have problems, they might not. That's how love works. Either way the ****ing media should always stay out of personal relationships. Let them deal with love as grown ups and not as celebrities.
  14. Will Smith loves money, like any other Hollywood celebrity, but he did that already in 2005; Ive always been really curious to what Will has to say about Lost & Found in retrospective, if it lived up to his expectations commercially, critically and quality-wise. But actually, Im gonna break my 8 year JJFP.com-tradition and be one of the more optimistic ones in this thread; There is a good chance Will makes another album (or at least a couple of tracks) if Trey keeps DJ:ing and want to pursue a career as producer, if Willow leaves the pop **** and gets into hiphop or if Jaden makes a reversed Will and goes into music. The best possibilites to hear Will dropping new rhymes is probably if he feels his children would gain from it. Also it is hard to predict the long term possibilities. If Will gets his damn Oscar (which I dont find too likely at the moment), he could probably focus less on acting and more on less time/energy consuming stuff like recording. It doesnt apply to everyone but I think it happens a lot that as you grow old, you turn back to your roots in some fashion, and those roots would definitely include performing and all the adrenalin that comes from it, but it could also mean recording. Either way, I think we will probably hear Will rap again, even if its only as an featured artist.
  15. I think Will would do it if he got paid properly. After all, he has made some not-so-beautiful moves at the smell of money before; guess it's the Hollywood way. I wonder what he means when he says that he's a different person now. I dont hope his interest in that alien lizard-God religion has made him reluctant of space invasion movies, lol. I have to say that when thinking about this further, there could be good ways for a decent sequel, but with Emmerich? It's not going to be interesting, thoughtful or original. And in the light of that tech talk and Kev's comment "Looking back. ID4 isn't as memorable and a large staple in Film history as i think people make it out to be. Films like that date easily, and a lot of it is just quite cheesy. I expect a barrage of hate from this response", I'd say I have to agree but with one addition; as a space movie from the (mainly) analogue era of film, its a technical masterpiece.
  16. Well, I think that you underrate the American governments interest in using loopholes in it's own law to control what it defines as problems. Laws were the citizens are "informed" by the existence of the law, and "consented" by the following of the law, is a common feature all over the world. To me it is not proven or in any other way sure that the loopholes are being used, but "(1) Any peaceful purpose that is related to a medical, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial, or research activity. / (2) Any purpose that is directly related to protection against toxic chemicals or biological weapons and agents. /(3) Any law enforcement purpose, including any purpose related to riot control" certainly makes it possible to i.e. send mind/mood/health altering chemicals through water or air though it is designed to look like a defence law, just like several terrorist laws. I think that one of the keys that many western countries suffer from is the complexity of our juridical, political and economical systems. Normal citizens, who dont work in the areas on a daily basis, basically aren't supposed to understand or fully grasp the systems, because they are probably a lot uglier than we might think sometimes. The systems seem to basically support privileged people. The increasing debts of people without power or extremely well-paid and safe jobs together with the increasing wealth of the top 1% or so might sound like communist bull**** to an american but I think that one is a proven fact that is becoming increasingly problematic to deal with. With laws like this and the economical issue being a big one, corporate power and corruption are bound to get more control over society. Many see the government and the companies as separate concepts often working against eachother, but the way these concepts have blend together making average humans a distant third in priority behind government and corporate interests, they can no longer be considered far from eachother. And Im increasingly worried what that means to the use of laws like these. We are always considering things "too good" or "too bad" to be true, yet all these things always happen. The 1976 Houston live version of Parliaments The Mothership Connection is too good. Some Afghanistan CIA-trained cave-living man hijacking airplanes running them into skyscrapers too bad. Lobbyism works in ways often more inhumane than we can imagine. The digital revolution has given well paid scientists and market researchers a good idea of what turns people on, what makes them behave in certain ways, how certain aspects of certain products create addictions not considered addictions - like Facebooking 8 hours each day or similar. If a company were to make themselves a depndence to the population - which could be reached through 1) global "safety" (control), 2) disease management, 3) food control. 4) water control, 5) energy control. All of these seem to be happening to a certain extent with the security business growing even in economically hard times. Disease management is controversial and would'nt be leaked if it was true - but we need to be aware of the fact that many people make serious money out of sick people. Food control is interesting with the Monsanto thing gaining some attention even in mainstream media. I think the genetic experiments on food could be a very big problem since it is probably intertwined with the dying of bee colonys all over world. Water control will probably become a big issue in a couple of years because of two things: the outdated and crumbling infrastructure in America, the overall pollution of water all over world. And energy control... well, please mention a war started in the last fifty years that havent been at least partly about controlling oil? These kind of laws could basically be used in order to make people sort of lab rats in order to find out behaviours to those who have a boner regarding endless wealth and endless power. While corporate and banking power is increasing everywhere at the cost of (and imagined gain of) the people all over world, the development in this direction has come very far both in the USA and in Sweden and it is worrying be. Currently, in Greece people are being forced into labor camps to pay off their debt to the banks if its over 5000 euros. Imagine the banks demanding for that to happen in surveillence and science heavy countries like ours. What I'm trying to say that laws like these... are putting us into a pretty dark looking path.
  17. Not so sure that it will wear off completely. I mean, we are used to thinking about hologram as a technology that doesnt really work that well, but it was way ahead of its time when it was introduced as a concept. Today we should be getting really close to use it in cool ways though its still too costly. I dont think it will disappear completely off the charts like it did in the 70s and 80s though.
  18. The battle was on a radion station called Power 99 though. Someone who arent as lazy as me should email em..
  19. I know for a fact that the Steady B battle still exists on record as I stumbled upon it at some Old School Hiphop site years ago... It was for sale and not for download though, but according to the dude there was some Philadelphia collectors who got copies of it..
  20. Not in France. They are one of a few countries where "culture" could mean anything and doesnt necessarily mean that its needs to be well-polished and aesthetically correct. I dig it. There should probably the more appearances like this somewhere. He must have been in France many times?
  21. As a journalist eagerly trying to break through the walls of power in Sweden, I sometimes get information about the American system and politics, as Sweden are getting increasingly close to American ideas of excessive power enforcement, and I just wonder... The law that I am posting below, is it ever discussed in the American media or among Americans in general? I mean, I've spoken to a lot of really politically interested Americans, but never to the everyday-life-loving guys and girls that you can find a lot of on this forum... So im curious. ""PUBLIC LAW 105—85—NOV. 18, 1997: USE OF HUMAN SUBJECTS FOR TESTING OF CHEMICAL OR BIOLOGICAL AGENTS SEC. 1078. RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF HUMAN SUBJECTS FOR TESTING OF CHEMICAL OR BIOLOGICAL AGENTS. (a) PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES.—The Secretary of Defense may not conduct (directly or by contract) (1) any test or experiment involving the use of a chemical agent or biological agent on a civilian population; or (2) any other testing of a chemical agent or biological agent on human subjects. (b) EXCEPTIONS.—Subject to subsections ©, (d), and (e), the prohibition in subsection (a) does not apply to a test or experiment carried out for any of the following purposes: (1) Any peaceful purpose that is related to a medical, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial, or research activity. (2) Any purpose that is directly related to protection against toxic chemicals or biological weapons and agents. (3) Any law enforcement purpose, including any purpose related to riot control."" Edit: And yes, before anyone else says it: "© Informed consent required The Secretary of Defense may conduct a test or experiment described in subsection (b) of this section only if informed consent to the testing was obtained from each human subject in advance of the testing on that subject." I am aware of this, but its toothless because one: 1) you are informed, because its in the law book and 2) you consent, because you follow the law.
