Rapper whose lyricism can range from mediocre to pretty good...not particularly intelligent...but can make himself sound smart on record. He's got some good production / guest appearances ...the end product is quite tolerable, with some really good tracks...
Ferrell is funny enough playing an overgrown man child (see 95% of his movies) but lacks sophistication...so a lot of his stuff is really funny, but lacks any depth.
But there's a completely different story with most of Apatow's productions...there's depth and subtlety, and at times unnerving realism mixed in with the hilarity. If you've ever seen an episode of the Apatow directed TV Show "Freaks and Geeks", you will know exactly what I'm talking about...
Btw...Step brothers is quite funny...
Lauryn Hill, Heavy D, Dr Dre, Nas (too early?), Outkast, Pete Rock + CL Smooth, Gang Starr. But nothing would excite me more than a de la soul/jjfp/slick rick on the same night...but they will probably give it to less deserving artists.
I love his stuff in "in living color" and a couple of his over the top comedies...but I think he's really matured as an actor and I think he should do more subtle stuff that is still funny, like "Eternal Sunshine" or "The Truman Show"
Today their doing Jim Jones Vs Diddy, two rappers who couldn't see Will or LL on their worst days...and they've had bad days! Not to mention people Rakim and KRS should be able to compete, if not completely own such a competition...
