  1. “Bartholomew vs Neff” Sly and John Candy were to play feuding neighbors. “Beverly Hills Cop” Sly was the original choice to play Axel Foley. He wanted a more serious action picture, but the producers wanted to go with a comedy. They parted ways. Sly went on to make “Cobra” and the producers brought in Eddie Murphy. “Bodyguard, The” Not the Kevin Costner vehicle, but an unproduced screenplay written by Sly written in the mid 70s: a bodyguard hired to protect a millionaire’s wife and child goes on a hunt for the killers after they succeed in their mission. [Perhaps Sly should go back and re-consider this one! - Craig] “Bogus Kingdom, The” Unproduced screenplay written by Sly in the early 70s: A group of down-and-out performers kidnap several high-ranking movie execs and using their make-up and acting skills take over the company. [i love that title! - Craig] “Cobra II” Before its release it was thought that Cobra would be Sly’s third movie franchise. “Coming Home” Sly was the first choice to play the role that went to Jon Voight. “Cotton Club, The” Sly was the first choice to play the role that went to Richard Gere. “Cry Full, Whisper Empty, in the Same Breath” Unproduced Sly screenplay from the mid 70s. “Deadly Reckoning” This was to be a sci-fi movie that took place in a domed city. “The Executioner” At one point it looked as if Sly would star as Don Pendelton’s character with William Friedkin directing. “Fatalis” Fatalis was written specifically for Sly by Jeff Rovin [who had previously written a bio of Sly] and was to be made at Universal. Saber-tooth tigers attack Los Angeles! “Father Lefty” Unsold tv series created by Sly and to star Danny Nucci “Frequency” Sly turned down the lead which Dennis Quaid ended up taking. “Gale Force” Sly was scheduled to re-team with director Renny Harlin for another big budget action adventure that took place during a hurricane. “Gangster” It looked as if Sly would star from a screenplay by Paul Aulattanesio and to be directed by William Friedkin. [The advance word on the screenplay was excellent. - Craig] “Godfather Part III” Sly was being courted by Paramount to star and direct and John Travolta would co-star. “Inglorius Bastards” Quentin Tarantino’s long talked about war movie a la “The Dirty Dozen.” Widely reported that Tarantino has a role for Sly should it ever get made. [Tarantino also has roles in the movie for Schwarzenegger, Willis, Adam Sandler, and Eddie Murphy!] “Isobar” Sly would have found himself pitted against a genetic mutation on a supersonic train. “Maggie’s Eyes” Unproduced screenplay written by Sly: the story of a criminal who falls in love with a blind woman. [Another screenplay that I wish Sly would re-consider. - Craig] “Negotiator, The” Sly turned down the lead. “Notorius” Sly wrote and planned to star in a docudrama about the murder of rapper “Biggie” Smalls “Pals” Unproduced screenplay by Sly: described as a younger version of “The Odd Couple.” “Poe” Unproduced screenplay, again written by Sly in the early 70s: Sly’s long discussed dream project - a biography (of sorts) of Edgar Allan Poe! [i wish Sly could get this made if only to see his vision of Poe! - Craig] “Romancing the Stone” Sly has said that he turned down the lead [that went to Michael Douglas] to instead do “Rhinestone.” “Sad Blues” Unproduced screenplay written by Sly in the early 70’s: a tragic love story about a pop singer with a life-threatening condition that requires that he eat bananas every day… “Sinsilver” Unproduced screenplay by Sly: Hasidic Jews in the wild west. Stallone / Schwarzenegger FIlm It’s long been reported [L.A. Times, Cinescape.com, Ain't It Cool News] that Sly and Arnold have been talking about a project together. Arnold wants an ensemble cast, ala “The Great Escape.” Sly is said to prefer that they appear as adversaries. It’s reported that it all comes down to when they agree on a script for the project. “Superman” Sly was considered for the role of Superman. “Till Young Men Exit” Unproduced screenplay written by Sly in the early 70’s: A group of frustrated actors kidnap a Broadway producer. [A great title! - Craig] “Trio” Fictional movie within “Burn, Hollywood, Burn” starring Sly, Whoopie Goldberg and Jackie Chan. “X vs. Sever” In August of 2000 reports surfaced that Sly may team up with Vin Diesel for this Warner Bros. project which follows an “older government agent pursued by a bounty hunter. [it was eventually made with Antonio Bandaras and Lucy Lu] http://stallonezone.com/wordpress/?page_id=32 wow, some good ones there

  3. A TOURIST has spent eight years travelling across 37 countries with the equivalent of $2, relying on his bicycle for transport. Keiichi Iwasaki, 36, left his Japanese home in 2001 with just 160 Yen ($2) in his pocket after becoming bored with his air-conditioning job, the UK's Telegraph reports. After cycling the country for a year he decided to extend his journey to South Korea and, eventually, 36 other countries. During his trip Mr Iwasaki was attacked by a rabid dog in Tibet, robbed by pirates and was even arrested in India. He cycled over 45,000 kilometres during his marathon adventure and become the first Japanese man to climb Mount Everest from sea level without using any transportation. Mr Iwasaki said he raised funds from performing tricks, and only his “strong will” has kept him on his bike. He chose to avoid air travel and opted for cycling or ferries for transport in order to soak up the atmosphere. ''I didn't want to use aeroplanes because I wanted to see and feel everything with my own skin. With bicycle, I can always feel the air and atmosphere of the place.'' Mr Iwasaki is in Switzerland and hopes to climb Mount Blanc, Europe’s highest peak, before travelling to Africa and the US over the next five years. He plans to write a book about his adventure http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,28318,26058231-5014090,00.html
  4. I kinda like his rap, don't know why
  5. A JOURNALIST sent to a wildlife park to "play" with a one-year-old lion bit off more than he could chew - which is almost what the animal did with him. British reporter Charles Starmer Smith was allowed into the cage of one-year-old lion Mapimpan, whose name means "little baby", and was subsequently mauled by the animal while its trainer tried to calm it down. Starmer Smith, a journalist working for UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, watched as Mapimpan locked its jaws around one of his legs before targeting his face. The lion had to make do with the journalist’s shoulder after Starmer Smith threw his arms up to protect his head. Video footage of the attack and it's aftermath shows the journalist's skin punctured in several places. Starmer Smith had travelled to the South African park to present travel videos about the country, and he said he was warned of the risk of injuries if he went into the cage. He said he was rubbing the lion’s belly when it decided to bite his leg. “It rose on to its haunches, towering above me and I was spun into a waltz with a 300lb (136kg) predator - as I pushed desperately at its throat to keep away its jaws," Starmer Smith said. "This did not feel like playing." He said that the lion appeared to have calmed down - before rising for Round 2. "(It) was on me again, its teeth bared as it lunged towards my neck. I raised my forearm to divert its jaws from my face, then felt razor-sharp teeth ripping into my shoulder. "The next few seconds were a blur of claws, teeth and shouts as I stumbled around, helpless against the power of this animal." He required stitches for his injuries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kSVBip24ag
  6. I like Disney animation series too, don't laugh, Aladdin, Lion King etc
  7. Michael Jordan had his pick. Dean Smith. Phil Jackson. Maybe even his good friend Charles Barkley. Each would have been an understandable choice to present Jordan during his induction Friday into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Smith was Jordan’s legendary coach at North Carolina. Jackson helped guide Jordan to six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls. Barkley shared the role of rival and running buddy. Jordan passed on all of them. Instead, he chose someone who had never coached him or played with or against him. He chose David Thompson. The former NBA high-flyer who had starred at North Carolina … State. “I got a call from the Hall of Fame and they asked me if I was willing to be a presenter for someone,” Thompson recently told Yahoo! Sports. “I said, ‘Yeah.’ I didn’t know who it was. … They said Michael Jordan. I was like, ‘Wow.’ He told them that he was a big fan of mine and I was the one that really inspired him. Being that there was so many North Carolina people he could’ve chose, I was honored. Other popular posts on Yahoo! SpearsNBA preparing Twitter guidelines Sep 3, 2009 For coaches like Woodson, waiting is hard part Aug 29, 2009 “I was kind of surprised, and also was really flattered that he chose me over Coach Smith. You know how important he is?” To Jordan, Thompson’s college ties didn’t matter as much as his game. Before Jordan became Air Jordan, David Thompson owned the skies. Thompson grew up in Shelby, N.C. Jordan was just 11 when Thompson led the Wolfpack to their first NCAA championship in 1974. Nicknamed “Skywalker,” he captured Jordan’s imagination – and that of the rest of the nation – with his 48-inch vertical leap and acrobatic dunks. Thompson went on to play for the Denver Nuggets, and was the runner-up to Julius Erving in history’s first dunk contest during the 1976 ABA All-Star weekend. He once scored 73 points on the final day of the regular season. Drug and alcohol problems shortened his career and kept him from realizing his potential, but he recovered and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996. “Even when I go out to speak, that’s how they introduce me, ‘Michael Jordan before Michael Jordan,’ ” Thompson said. “Charles Barkley once said, ‘[Thompson] took the game to the air. … He got people out of their seats.’ I saw a lot of my game in Michael Jordan’s game.” Thompson first began to hear about Jordan when Jordan was playing at Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C. He knew Jordan was not only considering North Carolina, but N.C. State, too, in large part because Thompson played there. The Wolfpack, however, never asked Thompson to help recruit Jordan, who went to help lead the Tar Heels to the NCAA title as a freshman in 1982. The Wolfpack won the national championship a year later. “We would have had a couple more championship banners up there if he came,” Thompson said. Thompson met Jordan for the first time during the 1984 Final Four in Seattle. Jordan was there to receive a National Player of the Year award while Thompson was in the midst of the final season of his NBA career with the Seattle SuperSonics. “My friend took a picture of us together while saying, ‘These are the two best to ever play in the ACC,’ ” Thompson said. “A couple years later he ran into Michael and had the picture on him. Michael got a kick out of it, especially since he had hair back then.” Thompson said Jordan went out of his way to help him while he was a community ambassador for the Charlotte Hornets in the early 1990s. Then with the Bulls, Jordan would sometimes arrive hours early for road games in Charlotte to meet with underprivileged children. “The kids treated him like he was the Beatles or Michael Jackson,” Thompson said. “Little girls would shake. He was really good with the kids. “They didn’t really know who I was, but once he told them I was an inspiration for him they would look at me in a different light. They wanted my autograph. One kid said, ‘You must have been really good if Michael Jordan said that about you.’ ” Thompson won’t have to give a lengthy speech for Jordan; those days are over for the Hall, replaced by video tributes. But NBA Entertainment recently interviewed Thompson for an hour for Jordan’s introduction, and Thompson will attend all the ceremonies in which Jordan is honored, and stand with him during his induction speech. Thompson is still overwhelmed Jordan picked him to help celebrate his greatest honor. Over Smith, Jackson, Barkley and everyone else. “I’ve been smiling ever since,” Thompson said. “I’ve been telling people and they’ve been congratulating me like I was getting in. I’m already in.” Come this weekend, the game’s greatest legend will be inducted alongside his own idol. Even Michael Jordan knows the importance of recognizing those who came before him. “I built my talents on the shoulders of someone else’s talent,” Jordan wrote in his 1998 autobiography, “For the Love of the Game.” “I believe greatness is an evolutionary process that changes and evolves era to era. Without Julius Erving, David Thompson, Walter Davis, and Elgin Baylor, there would never have been a Michael Jordan. I evolved from them.” http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=mc-thompsonjordan090709&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  8. AN up-and-coming Mississippi gridiron player has become a hero after rescuing 22 people from an armed high school student. The 18-year-old was on a school bus heading to Yazoo County High School with 22 other students - including his two younger sisters -when a 14-year-old girl boarded the bus armed with a gun and threatening to shoot, Policelink.com reports. Eulls was asleep when the girl got on the bus, and didn’t know what was happening until he was woken by his sister. "My sister in front of me woke up and told me that the girl had a gun," Eulls said. "She was pointing it back and forth at other people and the little kids that were sitting at the back. I just thought real quick and tried to grab her attention before she pointed the gun at anybody else. I wanted her to point it at me so she wouldn't point it at anybody else. "I just tried to talk to her and calm her down." Eulls managed to open the emergency door on the bus and get as many people out the back of while trying to reason with the girl. “She was just getting louder and louder. I guess for a quick second she looked out the window and when she did that I just sprung at her. I just knocked her down and got the gun away from her. When I got the gun I ran out the back door and disarmed it.” Eulls, who has links to college football team Mississippi State, said he had no fear for his safety, only the safety of the others on the bus. "I was just scared for the younger kids and my family that was on the bus," Eulls said. "I was just thinking things out step-by-step as quickly as I could. After we got to the school and watched the tape I just sat there thinking 'what in the world did I just do?' I just thought about what if this would have happened or if this would have happened? It was just crazy." The Clarion Ledger reports Yazoo County Sheriff Tommy Vaughn praised Eulls, saying “If it hadn't been for this star football player, things could have been different. He didn't go overboard, but he did exactly what it took to get her on the ground. “Watching him do that and him doing such a heroic act and not even caring about his own safety, that's something you don't see every day."
