  1. More reviews: 2 negative ones http://movieink.net/2013/05/29/movie-review-after-earth/ http://cwtampa.cbslocal.com/2013/05/29/movie-review-after-earth/
  2. I'm sorry but Will Smith has become an idiot. In all his interviews, he rambles on with some pseudo-intellectual philosophical crap about the Universe or human relationships, ect. Then he goes on and on about his different, transcendent parenting skills, which is condescending to others. It's not a coincidence that as he become more and more like this over the years, his movies have gotten worse and worse. I miss the actor I was a big fan of in the mid-90s with the Fresh Prince, ID4, and Bad Boys. That guys is long gone. Will doesn't want to be an actor any more, he wants to be some spiritual guru.
  3. In any of these interviews does he talk about upcoming movie projects? That's what I'm interested in, because word of mouth on "After Earth" is not good.
  4. I usually don't like biopics, especially cheesy uplifting ones, but this guy's story is pretty awesome. http://badassoftheweek.com/index.cgi?id=214908723486
  5. Wonderful to see Will focusing on his own career again, and not directing that awful sounding Cain and Abel movie.
  6. June 7th was to close to Man of Steel. But, now it's opening right after the gauntlet of May that is Iron Man 3, Star Trek 2, Hangover 3, and Fast and Furious 6! It's going to bomb, hopefully international numbers can save it. August would be a good time to open it.
  7. If that's true, then Will's ego is out of control and it's ruined his career.
  8. why isn't Will filming something!?!?
  9. Another review: http://tesseractpawprint.com/2012/12/20/after-earth-review/ Recently, I had the opportunity to see an early screening of a movie called After Earth. The movie I saw was an early, rough director’s cut, so there were a few spots in the film where you could see the actors attached to wires or a few half-way finished CGI animated creatures. Once I was able to look past these quirks, I appreciated the strong message presented by the the film’s director, M. Night Shyamalan: how important it is to have a good father-son relationship. After Earth is a science-fiction movie starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith. In the movie, Will and Jaden are portrayed father and son, as they do in real life. The movie focuses on the human race one thousand years after Earth is no longer habitable by human beings. General Cypher (Will Smith) is a war hero in this new world (a planet known only by its numerical astronomical designation). The humans are locked in constant war with a race of terrible alien creatures called the Skrell. The Skrell are blind, but they can detect human beings by smelling their fear – literally. They hunt humans down, using the scent of pheromones each body gives off when experiencing fear. Ever the determined hunter, a Skrell will pursue a scent until it finds its prey and kills it. The first person to ever single-handedly kill a Skrell was Cypher. This feat elevated his social status and created the image of him as a war hero. Kitai (Jaden Smith) is the son of General Cypher and is in training to become a soldier, but he has problems with not listening to commands. He acts on instinct rather than thinking things through. Kitai rarely sees his father, so when Cypher comes home and announces that, after his next mission, he will retire, Kitai is excited. But his father surprises him: Kitai accompany his father on this final mission. Through a series of accidents and unforeseen circumstances, the ship Kitai and his father were on crashes on a dangerous planet. Kitai realizes that the air is unbreathable, discovers the Skrell that they were transporting on the ship escaped, and finds his father gravely injured. Kitai walks miles and miles of unknown land on the strange planet, with only enough oxygen canisters for a few days. Kitai tries to avoid the Skrell that is hunting him day and night, while trying to prove to his father that he is a worthy son by saving both his life and that of his father. To add to all Kitai’s trouble, he is on one of the worst planets in the universe. It is a place where everything (plants, animals, water, and the ground itself) fight against mankind. The planet is Earth. “After Earth” comes out in theaters June 7, 2013, and once it is released, it fully finished with no wires or partially rendered CGI creatures, it will be received with excitement and praise as another Will Smith summer blockbuster. At present, After Earth is rated PG-13, for animal violence and some frightening scenes. That rating will likely remain. As an adventure and as a relationship movie, it will be a good one to see with friends or with family. Four paw prints out of 5.
  10. BTW, film is getting rave reviews and will be nominated for a bunch of awards.
  11. Looks decent visually, but Tom Cruise has a movie, Oblivion, coming out in April with the same plot and looks better.
  12. I think what upsets people is that he passed on this flick to be a supporting character to his son in a Shyamalan flick.
  13. I want Will to star in movies that are good and turn a profit.
  14. Seems legit: http://www.reddit.co...en_smith_movie/ " I saw After Earth, the Will Smith/Jaden Smith movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan that releases June 2013. (self.movies) About the Movie: It was a fun science fiction movie that is meant for a teenage audience. The environments are great to look, I'm not talking Avatar quality but the rough scenes that I saw were very pleasing. The story is a nice mix of a survival/scifi/monster movie with a "coming of age" dusting on top. Will Smith is in a supporting role and Jaden has the majority of the screen time. I don't want to spoil too much so if you would like to know specifics about the plot or Shyamalan just ask me. About the Process: The whole event was set up at a local theater in Phoenix and was run by Nielson with help from the movie theater staff. Those that showed up were all placed in a line and then the teenagers or families with teenagers were picked to go in and check out the flick. I was one of the last people to go in just to fill random seats that were still left open. We had an introduction by a kind lady who told us that we were the first audience to ever see the movie and that we were going to have to use our imaginations on some scenes because the special effects/color balancing/sound balancing had not yet been finalized. Then the movie started and afterwards we filled out a survey about the movie with questions pertaining to movie pacing, acting ability, story, action, soundtrack, and others. All in all it was an interesting experience. The guy talks about the movie more in the comment section, and does give minor spoilers
  15. From the above article: "The couple were married on New Year’s Eve 1997. ‘He’s fantastic, thanks for asking,’ she giggles. ‘We’re actually doing a movie together next year. He’s directing it and we’re both very excited. We did Ali together for Michael Mann but that was a long time ago [2001]. It will be a lot of fun.’" That's likely "Redemption of Cain".
  16. I doubt Will is gonna be in this movie much, likely only a couple of scenes. Will seems to young to play a judge.
  17. Sorry, that poster is fan-made. In the poster, that's Will from "I Am Legend".
  18. Found this on twitter: https://twitter.com/deansherriff/status/237671553406496769 "Started concepts on redemption of Cain for Sony directed by will smith" The guy does concept art for movies, he worked on "After Earth". So looks like this movie may happen sooner than later. I don't care for it, and I am very leary of Will as a director. If I was to guess, I'd say Will is gonna film his bit part in "Winter's Tale", then supervisor Willow's Annie remake, and then do this movie.
  19. http://www.afterearth.com/ At the film's official web site, there's a brief video which tells the timeline of events leading up to the evacuation of Earth. It also talks about the history of the Raige's (Will and Jaden's character's family).
  20. There are many actors who director and star in the movies. Clint Eastwood is the best example. Mel Gibson did it (Braveheart). Ben Affleck is doing it well currently. Will already produces all his movies and has the screenplays rewritten constantly, he might as well direct. Sigh.. It just seems Will made better movies when he was brought in to be part of a project, not develop and control the project from the start like it has been recently. Also, this project sound bad. People are sick of vampires.
  21. No, I follow the blog of one of the participants of the panel at Comic-Con, and he said only a "behind the scenes" clip will be shown.
  22. This is a tweet of M. Night where he was responding to a question about a trailer. "Hey Mukilan, It will be seen around Christmas on a film with a very short protagonist." https://twitter.com/MNightShyamalan/status/222338556604071937 I think he means "The Hobbit". That's a long wait
  23. On the internet, especially twitter, people are really ragging on the name "General Cypher Raige". I hope they show some footage at comic-con. The film could use some positive buzz.
  24. Likely because they are his children and in an attempt to be a good father, he is trying be there to watch over them and be a guide and example for them as they take on these projects. So many of the other Hollywood kids are exposed to the industry and left by their parents in the care of others or to largely fend for themselves. We have numerous examples of many of these kids turn out and I'm sure Will and Jada, while wanting to support the budding careers of their kids, are well aware of the pitfalls that are prevalent. I can't fault them for doing a good deal of hand holding as their careers develop. I get that, but maybe for only 4 to 6 months, not years.
