  1. It's not just you. It's an uplifting song. I like it a lot.
  2. I counted down the seconds until the west coast polls closed and when the news organizations called the election for Obama, I did my best to fight back tears. This is such a great moment for me. I didn't think that in my lifetime I would see an African-American elected to the highest office in the U.S. I called my dad and he was like me. He felt so proud tonight. He never thought he would see an African-American president in his lifetime. It feels like a dream... a dream come true. Congratulations to President-Elect Obama!!!
  3. Apparently so. If Vipa can't change the weekly deadline from weekly to daily then we're all screwed. The only other suggestion is to scuttle the league and start over. It makes no sense that we can only change our teams on Monday. We might as well not have a league.
  4. This isn't about Rush being on the side of McCain. This is about Limbaugh singing the praises of Powell when he makes the case for war in Iraq in '03 but slandering the man when he endorses Obama for president. This endorsement wasn't about race. This endorsement was about picking the better candidate. For Rush to simplify this to Powell endorsing Obama because they're black men is racist & ludicrous. If race was the issue then why didn't Powell endorse Obama months ago? I mean after all, Powell was still black months ago. That's what I meant by Rush's comments.
  5. Although I'm a White Sox fan, I'm rooting for the Phillies. My best friend is from Philly and I have great respect for the Philly teams & their fans. Go Phillies!!!!!!
  6. John McCain seemed dismissive about Powell's endorsement of Obama. See this article: McCain Camp Dismisses Powell Endorsement U.S. conservative radio host(and overall jerk) Rush Limbaugh said that the only reason Powell endorsed Obama because he was black. This is the opinion of most conservatives in the U.S. They defended Powell while he was in the Bush administration and as soon as he left the Bush White House and spoke out about the war in Iraq, conservatives began branding him a traitor. Here is what Rush Limbaugh said: Limbaugh, Conservatives Inject Race in Powell Endorsement I think this is really gutter politics on the part of conservatives but I'm not surprised. They'll do anything to win this election.
  7. I don't know about this one. Love Lockdown grew on me quick and Heartless is cool although I wish he would rap the verses in that song. I commend Kanye for experimenting with his sound but I have a feeling a lot of people aren't going to like it. The problem with artists is that they come out with a sound, people fall in love with it and that's the only sound they want to hear from that artist. The artist gets pigeon-holed into a certain sound and when they try to go "outside the box" the artist gets criticized for it. These same people complain about how watered-down music has become but also criticize artists when they try something different. That being said, I hope that Kanye doesn't use the vocoder thing throughout the entire album but I do give him credit for taking a chance musically.
  8. This was a dumb trade on the part of the Cowboys. They just got T.O. Jr. in Roy Williams. He is a complete headcase who has done more harm than good to an already pitiful Lions team. The Lions got the better end of it because they will have 2 draft picks in the first 3 rounds in addition to their own draft picks. This is going to come back to haunt Dallas.
  9. I see what you're saying AJ but I think he's trying to expand himself as an actor. Doing the "Will Smith Big Willie" thing is all good but it's not going to net him an Oscar. I don't doubt that he loves making movies for the art but shouldn't you get recognition for the hard work you do? And there's nothing more satisfying than an Oscar. I'd really like to see him win an Oscar one day. He's got enough Grammys. LOL
  10. He did this song live somewhere and it sounded better because he rapped the verses. If he sings them then it doesn't sound as good. He should just rap the verses on this song.
  11. Will once said in an interview that most Oscars are handed out to actors who portray real people or people with mental illness(I think it was the interview he did w/ Angie Martinez in '05 when Hitch came out). Will believes there is a plan to this and he's going to follow it. Tim, I can understand your frustration because you want Will to make music but I think the Oscar is more important to him right now. I think he wants that Oscar to validate his acting career. He's said the Oscar isn't important but it is. What actor doesn't want to be the one standing up there accepting a Best Actor/Actress award? It's like playing sports. You can make all the money in the world & gain personal accolades but at the end of the day it's about the championship. Your career isn't validated without that championship.
  12. Biden clearly won the debate on Thursday night. I agree with Max that the bar was set so low for Palin that the simple fact she made it through the entire debate was a win for her. She was a lightweight on the issues while Biden danced circles around her.
  13. I think we can disagree without being disagreeable. I think AJ took it to a personal level and it didn't really need to go there. We have all been given free will to make choices and some choose not to believe in God. That's their choice and although I may disagree with their choice I won't make them out to be bad people. As I said in an earlier post, people use their religion to cause wars & discriminate against people of different religions and lifestyles. Some of these people are just as close-minded & dismissive as some people are who don't believe in God. In the U.S. we have freedom of speech & freedom of religion even if that means they don't believe in religion. We all have the right to believe in whatever we want to believe in.
  14. I frequently watch Real Time on HBO and agree with some of Maher's views on politics. I wouldn't have a problem with this movie if he was just criticizing religion. I have a problem with him belittling people's personal faith & their personal relationship with their higher power. I don't think most people who have a real personal relationship with God(or whatever faith they are) have a mental disorder. I think it's dismissive of Maher to lump all people who believe in a higher power in one huge lump. Are there a lot of idiots who use their faith to kill, murder and discriminate against other people? Absolutely. But I also think that there are people who genuinely practice their faith & are tolerant of other people's views. I may not agree with them but I'm not going to tell someone "they're going to hell". All of us have sinned & fallen short of where God wants us to be.
  15. My sentiments exactly, AJ. I haven't watched Rap City since they stopped doing Old School Wednesdays. Rap City WAS the perfect show after YO! MTV Raps went off the air but over time it regressed as BET regressed. The show didn't stay true to showing videos from commercial & independent artists. It just became another wing of the major labels "street teams". It became a marketing ploy and less & less about showing real hip-hop. I say good riddance to the hot garbage that was Rap City. Now if only BET would go off the air completely.....
  16. :lolsign: :lolsign: I can just imagine the kids getting away with murder when it comes to Will. He probably tries to lay down the law and the kids are like, "yeah, sure Dad" and then go do their own thing. I can definitely see Jada laying the lumber on the kids. LMAO!!!!!
  17. If you are going to not sing, stand up or give some type of reverence to the national anthem then you better have a real good reason to do it. This video just shows how much of a clown Josh Howard is. I respected Mahmoud Abdul Raouf(former Denver Nuggets player) for not doing because of his religion. I respected the female college basketball player a few years ago because of her stance against America's policies. But to do it for the reason this idiot Howard gave is just plain stupid. It is America and he has the right to do it but by the same token this is America and I have the right to call him a clown & an idiot. This dude has made millions playing basketball. I would like to know what "hardships" he's had since making it to the NBA. He's a clown, period.
  18. I saw this on YouTube a couple of days ago. 50 is a clown and pathetic. He has been one of the worst things to happen to rap & hip-hop.
  19. $600 MILLION!!! It's been a very good summer for Will Smith. Despite bad reviews, Hancock's worldwide box-office total passed the $600 million mark over the weekend thanks to its better than expected international run. With its U.S. run finally over, Hancock looks to continue its impressive run on the international side. Hancock just opened at #1 in Italy. Domestic: $227.9 million Overseas: $375.9 million Worldwide: $603.8 million
  20. Every time this movie comes on TV I have to watch. I still laugh at it. One of the great Mel Brooks' comedies.
  21. Tell me about it. I had Colston in one league & Nate Burleson in another league.
  22. Injury Update: New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston is out 4-6 weeks with thumb injury. San Fransico 49ers TE Alex Smith is out for the year with a broken shoulder. San Diego Chargers LB Shawn Merriman out for the year with ACL damage to his knee Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young out 2-4 weeks with MCL sprain; personal issues
