  1. I had to share this with you guys. Funny stuff. There are people who actually think Drake is a better rapper/lyricist than Lupe Fiasco Peep the comedy: Drake vs. Lupe Fiasco
  2. I'm a quirky dude when it comes to music so I have my own style for it. The purists are going to hate BP3 but I thought it was a solid CD. It's not on the level of BP1 but it's a good listen. I really get the sense Jay is experimenting more & more with his music, especially in the beats department. I really like What We Talking, Thank You, D.O.A., Off That, Venus vs. Mars, So Ambitious & Run This Town. There are 3 tracks on there that are really bad(Real As It Gets feat. Jeezy, On To The Next One and Young Forever). I've replaced those songs with Brooklyn We Go Hard, You're All Welcome feat. Mary J. Blige & Jocking Jay-Z. There's a track with Kanye called Hate. It's a really quirky song but it works for me. My grade for BP3: B-/B
  3. I'm in but there should be two changes: There should be no can't cut list. That hampers everyone's lineup if a player gets injured & you can't get rid of him. Passing TDs should be worth 6 points not 4.
  4. I really like The Big Picture. I think his hardcore fans who loved his debut Moment of Truth probably won't like this one. I like how he incorporates different styles of music into this album. My favorite album is Moment of Truth but I'm really feeling The Big Picture. The Faith & Open Book were solid albums too.
  5. Da T.R.U.T.H. feat Izzy - I Need You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdSsaIxMog0
  6. Kirk Franklin feat. Da T.R.U.T.H. - I Like Me
  7. I listened to this track about 2 days ago and I must admit that it's a good track. This is about as close as Eminem has come to matching his earlier work(Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP) which in my opinion is his best work. A few things about this: 1. I've heard people say that this is a fail for Em because he seems bent on going after Mariah. With this track he's put himself in the cat bird's seat by basically daring Nick and/or Mariah to respond. If they don't respond he wins & if they do then he wins. He's basically put Mariah & Nick in a no-win situation so they need to fall back on this one. 2. AJ was right when he said Em has not gone after a credible MC. Let's look at his history and see who he's attacked. Britney, Christina, Mariah, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Insane Clown Posse, Everlast, FP come to mind right off the bat. This is a problem when all he attacks are pop stars, R&B singers and rappers who don't engage in "beef". He attacks people who know that a) they won't respond and b) if they do respond he'll just continue to roast them. 50 Cent has made a career off of this & that's why I can't put Em in my top 20 MC list. This is not to say that he doesn't have skills because clearly he does. When Royce Da 5'9 buried D12, where was Em? Nowhere to be found. Some people don't know this but when Em was doing those battle competitions back in the late 90's & earlier this decade, he got his head handed to him by Rhymefest(Chicago stand up!!!). Em even admitted that Fest was a better MC & battle rapper. Yeah Em went at Canibus but this was after LL all but finished his career. 3. Em's catalogue is sketchy at best. Infinite was that heat. He followed up with two very strong albums in the Slim Shady LP & Marshall Mathers LP. After that it's been downhill for him. He's had tracks here & there that were OK but nothing to match his first 2 albums. You can't be considered one of the greats when your catalogue is as sketchy as Em's is.
  8. Ha ha. That's funny..... and true. Rakim should win this easily.
  9. Interesting interview. As much as I want Jay to murder Game's career, I'm glad he's not responding to Game. Game looks more & more childish with this nonsense. Whatever happened to just doing good music. Everybody's got beef now. It's so sad to look at the state of mainstream rap right now. Well.... let me get back to listening to my old-school stuff.
  10. Exactly. This vote was based on skills and flow not by popularity. I think we all can agree we like Will as a rapper but seriously he is not in my top 10 list of emcees. I've always liked his style & the fact he stayed true to his style of rap. He is greatly slept on by critics/fans/the industry but at the same time this poll is clearly biased. We can have a real debate as to whether Will was a better emcee with Ice Cube(Round 3 - I didn't think so but I can see the argument) and Chuck D(Round 4 - Again I didn't vote for Will but I'll listen to the argument) but to say that Will is better than Nas(Quarterfinals)??? If Will beats Rakim then I have to say that this poll is completely based on anything but the criteria set forth. I support Will till the end & will defend his music career against any critic but this.... is just going a wee bit too far. LOL.
  11. Rihanna's singing gets annoying after a while. Jay & Ye came with it though.
  12. I was 13 when I went to see him in concert. It was such an amazing night. He performed so many hits. I just remember saying to myself I've just witnessed history. He was phenomenal. The dance moves, the songs, the sound was just so amazing. I've been to a number of concerts but no one, I mean no one, put on such a great performance like Michael could. I remember I was the only one in my class who went to the concert & everybody wanted me to tell them about it. I remember when the video for Thriller came out. I was too young to stay up for Friday Night Videos so an older neighbor(he was in high school) recorded the video & I saw it the next day. The video was so crazy & at the time I didn't realize just how revolutionary this video was. No artist since has been able to come close, let alone match his genius. Every album that came out I got on the first day. Possibly my greatest memory of Michael was when he did the Motown 25th Anniversary show when he premiered the moonwalk. Everybody was trying to do the moonwalk; everybody wanted to be him. As a lifelong fan, it hurt when the tabloids & allegations started. It's sad that society looks to tear people down after they're built up. I was really looking forward to him coming back & blessing us with new music. I wanted him to come back & prove all his critics wrong. I am going to miss him so much but I'm going to celebrate his life & music to the fullest. He was & is the greatest entertainer of all-time. No one even comes close.
  13. I love so many of his songs that's hard to list just some. As far as albums go: 1. Thriller - Flawless; One of the 10 greatest albums of all-time 2. Off The Wall - Just classic material(Don't Stop..., Off The Wall, Rock With You) 3. Dangerous - Who Is It is my favorite song on that album 4. Bad - Man In The Mirror!!!! Smooth Criminal!!!! 5. HIStory - Stranger In Moscow, Scream(the song & video were bananas) 6. Invincible - Butterflies & Whatever Happens are my 2 faves off that album As videos go: 1. Thriller - It started it all 2. Smooth Criminal - The dance moves were classic 3. Scream - MJ & Janet together? Bananas!!! 4. Remember The Time - The dance moves were off the chain!! 5. Beat It - I remember trying to dance like him in that video 6. Billie Jean - The street lighting up when he walks? Genius!!!
  14. I am deeply saddened & hurt by the passing of Michael Jackson. He was my all-time favorite entertainer. I remember seeing him in concert during the Bad album. It remains the greatest concert I've ever seen in my life. This is a very sad day. I will miss him greatly. RIP Michael. Your music will always be timeless.
  15. Yeah, this was rather corny. Natalie Portman did it way better.... Natalie Portman a.k.a. Nat Pizzle
  16. It's down to the Sweet 16. I needed to think for a second before I made my choices. There are some great battles brewing right now.
  17. The next round should be REAL interesting.
  18. I know we all love Will on this board but can we honestly say that he is better than Cube? I really like Kel Spencer but Biggie is better but Snoop over LL? Snoop can flow but to suggest he is a better MC than Uncle L is stretching it a bit far.
  19. I officially hate this dude now. LOL!!!! It was hot yet a little too much. I wonder how Halle's man feels after seeing the pics & the video. Also, the moment where I laughed was when Brad Pitt was cheering them on. Too funny. But yeah, I officially hate this dude.... and I'm not even that big of a Halle Berry fan.
  20. I'm definitely feeling this track from Jay. I think he could've gone harder but it's good nonetheless.
  21. These two were tough for me as well. I thought the best matchup was Biggie vs. Big Daddy Kane.
  22. (In Jay-Z's voice) "We don't believe you. You need more people!!" Bam's post failed on 3 points. FP is a real rapper(maybe Bam should check Will's discography before Big Willie Style). Just because he doesn't spit nonsense about guns, street-life, sex, etc doesn't mean he's not a "real" rapper. Will's one of the best storytellers to pick up the mic. Will kept the clean rap alive throughout the 90's. Summertime? 1991. Code Red? 1993? Gettin' Jiggy Wit It? 1997. I could go on but.... And to his 3rd point, Dr. Dre???? Dr. Dre???? Mr. Lip-gloss & Sequin Outfit?? He spit such groundbreaking rhymes like... like.... ummm..... Anywho, I'm not surprised Will lost to Em nor am I surprised by the outcome. We have an entire generation of people who think Em is the greatest thing rap has ever seen. I'm not saying that he can't spit because he can it's just after the MMLP he's been falling off ever since. LMAO. Dr. Dre, a real rapper. LMAO.
