  1. I've heard a lot of dumb ideas come out of Hollywood ... but to do a sequel that follows an alternate ending available on the DVD instead of the theatrical one has to be up there with dumbest of them ... I'm not even a fan of ignoring certain sequels (like they did with the Halloween or Terminator movies) but this is something else.
  2. I watched it yesterday. It was good and at times very good. Smith's performance was understated but fit the bigger picture perfectly in my mind. I do think however his performance in King Richard was far greater. Emancipation just wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. It was a solidly made and solidly acted movie that didn't add anything new to chew on and discuss if someone's seen movies like 12 Years A Slave. My biggest issue with the film is that they seemed to pull back on a whole bunch of interesting ideas in order to focus on the "runaway" aspect of the film. For example, we see the famous scars but we don't actually see how he got them and by the time the photo is taken we realize we never really knew anything about what his life as a slave looked like prior to the events from the beginning of the film. We see his wife and children wondering if he's alive and there's a brief subplot there with a ... violent resolution but then it's just dropped and never mentioned again. Ben Foster is an amazing actor but here he's not really given the chance to fully spread his wings as we all know he can. Not to mention his two henchmen, on of whom is black and that potentially interesting theme also barely gets acknowledged and resolved with a single line of dialogue. What doesn't disappoint is Fuqua - I honestly have no idea where the hate towards him is coming from in the reviews I've seen. The film is beautifully shot with an interesting choice for color palette and captures the treacherous Louisiana swamps perfectly. Not that I've ever been there :D but you really do get the idea of how much courage it took to risk running through all of that in order to get your freedom. Also I love Fuqua's handling of battle/war scenes which we see in the third act. Some truly inspiring shots there. In the end it's kind of a frustrating situation where I think the movie is really good but here and there I saw the potential for it to be great. A potential that wasn't really fulfilled.
  3. Well ... this sucks :( https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/emancipation_2023 I'm gonna find out in a week (I'll get Apple TV just for that alone) but I have to wonder ... could it possibly be some kinf od weird vendetta against Smith? I find it REALLY hard to believe that both Smith and Fuqua would screw up a topic like this :(
  4. The one thing I'm worried about is that it sounds like it might be Will's best and most important movie to date ... but beacause of everything going on with him Apple might want to dump it in a dead season like January or sth and it will be quickly forgotten. I don't think they would do that (it's too hihg profile and they poured too much money into it) but I am a little worried.
  5. It was good. It was a good interview. Funny, interesting plus Will and Dave always had excellent chemistry. I have to say I laughed out loud when Will said "I realized at that moment that I can handle anything the life throws at me." I was like "...except for mild humor about your wife's haircut apparently." :) I truly recommend everyone here sees it. It was probably the last we'll ever see of the pre-slap Will ... and sth tells me that post-slap Will might be slightly different.
  6. Not an American here. How hard is it to obtain a voter id for yourself?
  7. It's been slow as heel lately with any new news so maybe this will count for something. Warner Bros has released a short clip highlighting all of its 2021 premieres ... including King Richard ... so you can see the film's logo and a half-a-second clip of Richard with venus and Serena :) https://youtu.be/k5HSGjg4FRg In the time of nothingness even half-a-second counts as something :)
  8. The first reactions got me excited but the first proper review paint a different picture :/ https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/gemini_man_2019 I am, however, almost done with mainstream media critics. Afterwhat happened with Chappelle's latest special, Black Panther and Captain Marvel they started to lose all credibility as far as I'm concerned. At tthis point I actually rely more on youtubers Jeremy Jahns, Chris Stuckmann and the Flick Pick for a genuine oppinion.
  9. So ... yeah ... http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/822923-bad-boys-3-loses-director-joe-carnahan
  10. I'm begininning to think (or hope at least) that we're about to see the coolest Will Smith performance to date :) Not to mention that with two movies out this year, both with great ensembles it is shaping up to be a very good year for the man and his fans :)
  11. AWESOME TRAILER!! The trailer as a whole is much better than the comic con one, but somehow I liked Harley more in that one. Here her performance seems a bit ... forced. And you know what's the best part of it? It doesn't seem like a "Will Smith movie" but a Sucide Squad movie that Will is a part of ... and that's exactly the type of thing he needs to be doing :) Also, he seems great in the part. The trailer does have a few very cool shots like Harley waving in the elevator, Joker lying with the bullets, Will shooting on the car and whatver the hell that thing was that shot open the subway car. Can't wait.
  12. Sorry, can't help it ;) Wiesz jak to jest z nami Polakami ;)
  13. First reviews are starting to creep in: http://variety.com/2015/film/reviews/film-review-will-smith-in-concussion-1201638217/ It's a shame really as I was really hoping this would be a great movie and a better chance for Will to showcase his skills than, say, Seven Pounds. Apparently Will is good (so he still might come out of it okay) but the movie is let down by its writer/director Peter Landesman. Yet another proof that Will needs to work with better directors.
  14. Question ... how can he be nominated for a people's choice award for a movie that the people haven't seen yet? :/ I mean I'm glad and all but it seems a bit odd ...
  15. Might be good ... as long as the guy doesn't go "so looong" throughout the whole song ;)
  16. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/619689-collateral-beauty-movie-alfonso-gomez-rejon And just like that ... I hope they find someone good to replace him cuz the movie does sound interesting.
  17. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/468493-will-smith-collateral-beauty Ale ... what did I say? :) Seems that Will really really wants that Oscar. If Concussion doesn't work out he'll have this one next year ;)
  18. Well ... this is interesting ... http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/468725-sony-pictures-dates-16-films
  19. Another one?? Oh ... f**k it ... I'm done. I'm genuinely considering leaving this forum and never caring about another project that Will is "interested in" or that he's "circling." I'm just gonna sit back, read the news the same way regular folks do it (I'm over 30, I'm a father of two, I have the right be perfectly "regular" ;) ) and get excited for a Will Smith movie once I learn that it actually started shooting :)
  20. I read WB's statement and you can tell they're pissed as hell that they had to release the footage ... and you know what? I totally get it. Usually I'm insanely jelaous that all those guys at Comic Con get to see so much before the rest of us but the truth is that they earned it. They made the trip (which always involves a certain financial contribution) and then they wiated in lines for hours to get in. It's only fair that they get rewarded for their dedication with something special. Those bootlegs ruin that and I'm not surprised at all that the creative minds behind the movies get mad. The movie looks cool as s**t by the way :D Especially Margot who I think is about to steal yet another movie from under Will's nose :)
  21. Looking good ... very good in fact :) Isn't it funny how we saw quite a bit of stuff from SUICIDE SQUAD (both official and set photos) as well as technically a first trailer but we still have yet to see a single thingm even a small one from CONCUSSION?? Also, it seems that SUICIDE SQUAD is a Will's first movie in a while where he didnt have any "creative" input ... and it might just turn out ot be one of his best movies :) Just a thought.
  22. "circling" "has his sights set on.." - I hate those ... usually they sound like good movies ... and 99% of the time nothing pans out. I remember where I read an article about Will's upcoming projects and they mentioned some really good-sounding ones like "The American Can" or "The Accountant" and then nothing happened with these projects (with The Accountant officially off the table cuz Ben Affleck is doing that) and AFTER EARTH came out of nowhere. TRIPLE FRONTIER sounds awesome and MARGIN CALL was an amazing piece of cinema ... sth that I also heard about ALL IS LOST and MOST VIOLENT YEAR. Will and Tom in that type of movie could be a game changer ... IF it happens.
  23. Hmm .... guys? http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/david-ayer-reveals-the-suicide-squad-in-the-first-official-cast-photo-248 Definitely a better look at Will than the pimp above :) Also, I'm digging the vibe coming from thath group photo ... very steampunk-y and very ... "street" for lack of a better word. I DIG IT :)))) This a very good step career-wise for Will :)
  24. My one hope is that Will's Deadshot doesn't get killed off in this film but instead will appear in one of Affleck's solo Batman flicks as the main villain. I just think that would be a cool face off between Affleck and Smith as the villain ... what do you guys think?
  25. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/features/432775-cinemacon-the-sony-pictures-presentation Sony was at Cinemacon and while they obviously focused on some of the more high profile releases (or those that will be released sooner than December) they did show a scene from Concussion ... supposedly it looks like a very "dramatic and emotional film" with Smith disappearing into the role due to his south african accent. Here's the excerpt: Concussion (December 25)Directed by Peter Landesmann (Parkland), this drama starring Will Smith involves the very dangerous reality of concussion injuries and deaths in the NFL, and they showed a scene of Smith addressing a meeting of players to talk to them about those they have lost due to concussions. Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu from the Brain Injury Research Institute and Smith’s South African accent really made him disappear into the role as he addressed the doctors in attendance (including one played by Alec Baldwin). There wasn’t much more to this than that extended scene, which made it seem like this is going to be a very dramatic and emotional film.
